Medical AssistantFamilies and Youth Innovation Plus is hiring a full-time Medical AssistantWe are seeking a compassionate and organized Medical Assistant to join our Certified Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC). The Medical Assistant will support our psychiatrist and mental health professionals in providing high-quality care to our participants, scheduling appointments, documenting patient information, and providing patient instructions.Competencies

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties:
- Assist psychiatrists during patient examinations and treatments
- Manage patient intake, including vital signs and medical history
- Schedule appointments and maintain electronic health records
- Coordinate with other healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care
- Ensure compliance with medical regulations and privacy laws
- Assist with basic laboratory procedures and diagnostic tests
- Provide patient education on medications and treatment plans
- Handle administrative tasks such as insurance verifications and referrals
- Collaborate with pharmacies for ordered prescriptions
- Assist in obtaining lab results and referral reports in collaboration with the care coordinator.
- Assist in collaborating documentation with the schools and parents
Patient Care and Education:
- Provide patients and families with education on medications, treatment plans, and mental health resources
- Offer emotional support to patients and families in crisis situations
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Facilitate communication between patients, families, and healthcare providers
Administrative Tasks:
- Manage patient intake process, including gathering medical history and insurance information
- Schedule and coordinate appointments for psychiatric evaluations, therapy sessions, and follow-ups
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records
- Handle insurance verifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
- Assist with inventory management of medical supplies and medications
- Ensure compliance with medical regulations, privacy laws (HIPAA), and center policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
- Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
- 2+ years of experience in a healthcare setting, with preference given to Mental Health or psychiatric experience
- In-depth knowledge of psychiatric terminology, common mental health conditions, and psychopharmacology
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse patient population
- Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Basic understanding of ICD-10 codes related to mental health diagnoses
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
