Ensure all necessary documentation is collected and specimens are correctly processed. Adhere to company policies and Ministry of Health guidelines in order to ensure the smooth operation of the company and maintenance of the company’s image of superior customer service.This is a permanent full-time position on day shift.Why Dynacare is an amazing place for YOU:

How YOU will make a difference:LHSC
- Ensure all reception duties are performed in a courteous and efficient manner and ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times
- Data entry and verify the completeness of all patient demographics and requisitions that are provincial and non- provincial
- Print and deliver reports, pickup specimens from physician’s offices as required
- Ensure proper documentation including receiving and recording money for non-provincial tests as per company guidelines
- Maintain and record standing orders and “to follow” requisitions
- Collect blood samples by venipuncture or by micro method using approved procedures
- Collect various other specimens from patients following specified guidelines
- Perform ECG following company guidelines
- Collect sample for special programs that require adherence to client’s company guidelines, if required
- Responsible for processing all samples and specimens following company and government regulations
- Packaging specimens for delivery according to company and TDG Guidelines
- Sorting the specimens including spinning the blood, pouring-off urine and separating the specimens into different categories
- Confirm specimen labeling is complete and accurate
- Routine disinfecting of work area and equipment is to be completed on a scheduled basis
- Responsible to follow all relevant pre and/or post analytical QA protocols as described in the company QA manual
- Train and orientate students and new employees as required
- Ensure supplies are properly ordered and maintained and stock has not exceeded expiry date
- Monitor workflow to ensure efficient operation of collection center and provide input to patient services staff scheduling
Mobile Collections
- Visit nursing homes, retirement homes and private home visits to perform venipuncture collections
- Communicate with patients, caregivers or long-term care facilities regarding collection service requirements
- Administrative duties: organize and maintain daily scheduling of collection services.
- Planning of route according to required travel time and specimen integrity
- Responsible to protect their Health and Safety by reporting hazards and working in compliance with standard safe Working Practices
- Ensure patient safety and dignity at all times
- Maintain documentation of work-related mileage, as required and follow Driving & Use of Company Vehicles Policy
What YOU bring to the role:
- Certification or degree required: Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant, LPN, or RN
- Previous venipuncture experience required: 2 years of experience
- Nursing Home experience an asset
- A Valid driver’s license and clean abstract required
- Certified Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check required
- TDG Certification
