  • Provide telephone, remote and onsite support across the entire range of supported MIS software modules
  • Complete relevant documentation and service desk calls in accordance with the MIS SLA which is in place
  • Be responsible for the support of the MIS Systems
  • Upgrade and installation of ESS software, including implementing and co-ordinating new systems as necessary
  • Provide support for the ESS FMS product as required by schools through call logged with the service desk
  • Maintain a high level of expertise with MIS products both those that are currently in widespread use and others that may become significant for the work of schools
  • Create or develop training and support materials for supported MIS software and ensure that these are kept up-to-date and regularly reviewed
  • Deliver training courses in a range of software modules to a high standard monitored by course evaluation questionnaires
  • Evaluate and pilot new software and share the development through training and software releases
  • Provide training for colleagues on new developments within areas of specialist expertise
  • Promote the effective use of MIS to raise standards in schools and make recommendations for improvement
  • Provide effective and efficient advice and support to the LA, Headteachers, School Business Managers and other school staff on a continuing basis in relation to MIS (SIMS/Arbor)
  • Attend attending conferences, seminars and meetings as requested
  • Contribute to the co-ordination of management information provision through school MIS systems and via the central IT systems in accordance with both LA and external timescales driven by the Department for Education policies, etc.
  • Assist with effective e-communications between the schools’ management information systems and the LA’s systems
  • Identify schools’ changing needs in relation to their data management requirements and make recommendations for change

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working with MIS(Sims, FMS and Arbor) solutions in a school or support team
  • Experience of delivering training courses
  • Proven experience in Incident and Problem management processes
  • Good understanding of MIS and IT support issues
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of solving IT software problems
  • Experience of providing support, advice and training in the use of MIS systems
  • Knowledge of schools procedures, working practices and statutory requirements
  • Relevant experience in the education sector preferred
  • Good working knowledge of MIS software areas: Core (Pupil Data, SEN, Statutory Returns, Reporting, etc), Curriculum (Assessment Manager, Nova, Exams), Resources (Personnel, FMS)
  • Excellent customer relationship skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly both in writing and orally to different audiences
  • Ability to prepare and run effective training courses
  • Ability to work on own initiative and a part of a team
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to changing solutions
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions
  • Ability to respond to the changing needs and priorities within the education environment
  • Ability to write clear concise instructions/training manuals
