Role Mission

Multi-Intensive Center Special Education Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep are essential to creating highly structured, inclusive, and achievement-oriented classrooms that support scholars with the most intensive needs in reaching their full potential. Grounded in equity, compassion, and individualized instruction, you will lead a self-contained classroom designed to serve scholars working toward alternate state standards (Extended Evidence Outcomes) and focused on building core academic, functional, daily living, and communication skills. As a case manager, you will develop and implement IEPs aligned with each scholar’s unique strengths and needs, collaborating with families, Dedicated Adult Supports (paraprofessionals), related service providers, and general education teachers to deliver rigorous, adapted instruction in a supportive environment. Your classroom will be driven by data-informed instructional practices, explicit routines, and differentiated materials prioritizing access, repetition, and engagement. In partnership with a team of paraprofessionals, you will deliver intensive instruction in literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, self-determination, and independent living skills—empowering scholars with the tools to thrive at school, home, and in the community.

All Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:

• Own student outcomes by setting high expectations, using data to guide your teaching, maximizing instructional time, re-teaching where needed, and promoting outstanding scholar growth and proficiency.
• Take ownership of your professional growth by actively engaging in regular coaching, being open to feedback, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Be punctual and prepared for all lessons, coaching sessions, staff meetings, and other professional obligations (such as Professional Development, parent-teacher conferences, etc).
• Build a strong, inclusive classroom culture where scholars thrive through proactive routines, culturally responsive structures, and restorative practices that foster belonging.
• Foster strong relationships with families through consistent communication, home visits, and engagement in school events, embracing each family’s unique perspectives and promoting inclusion and diversity.
• Model and embody RMP’s PEAK values (Perseverance, Excellence, Adventure, and Kindness) in all interactions with scholars, families, and staff.
• Collaborate with colleagues, special education teachers, and support staff to deliver grade-level content and targeted interventions for all students.
• Participate in and contribute to school-wide initiatives, professional development, and student and staff recruitment efforts.
• Support school operations by assisting with daily duties such as arrival, dismissal, and lunch, ensuring a smooth, safe, and organized learning environment.

Special Education Teachers at Rocky Mountain Prep will:

• Deliver research-based, individualized instruction aligned to Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEOs) and each scholar’s IEP, incorporating significant modifications and accommodations to meet diverse cognitive, communication, and functional needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor high-quality IEPs that include present levels of performance, aligned goals, functional benchmarks, accommodations, related services, and transition planning as applicable, in alignment with Colorado Department of Education (CDE) standards.
• Facilitate IEP meetings with clarity and empathy, ensuring families fully understand and are engaged partners in supporting their child’s unique educational program.
• Conducted special education evaluations, reevaluations, and assessments; managed a full IEP caseload, including scheduling and leading collaborative meetings with families, school staff, and service providers.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and specialized service providers (e.g., SLP, OT, PT, social worker) to consistently implement accommodations, modifications, and supports across learning environments.
• Provide explicit instruction in functional academics, communication, self-determination, daily living, and social-emotional skills using individualized curricula and assistive technology.
• Coach and support Dedicated Adult Supports (paraprofessionals) to deliver high-impact, small-group, and one-on-one instruction throughout the day, ensuring fidelity to instructional plans and strong adult-student relationships.
• Maintain accurate, ongoing progress monitoring and data collection systems to inform instruction and document growth toward IEP goals.
• Create a structured, positive, and engaging classroom culture with predictable routines, clear expectations, and universal design principles to support scholar independence and participation.
• Fulfill all required compliance tasks and reporting obligations at the school, district, and state levels, serving as the primary point of contact for families of scholars on your caseload.

Qualifications

Required:

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree (any subject)

Must possess the following:

• Current Colorado teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s)
• Special Education teachers must be certified in Colorado. If your license is from another state, you must complete the transfer before the first day of work.
• Pass a background check
• Demonstrate eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred:

• History of working with special needs populations
• Understand ABC data collection
• History of case management
• CPI/NCI Trained

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: Full-time position with a salary range of $62,000 to $92,800, based on experience and qualifications.
• Benefits: Includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision), disability insurance, life insurance, PERA retirement, and paid time off.
