We will consider remote working.We offer a wide benefits package including a competitive pension scheme starting at 28% employer contributions, a generous 28 days holiday, corporate discounts, free entry into English Heritage sites across the country and development opportunities to ensure you achieve your goals.To view our full range of benefits please follow the link .What you will be doingThe Central Listing and Architectural Research Team is responsible for making recommendations to Government on statutory heritage protection.You will provide specialist designation advice to the National Listings Manager, and lead on the delivery of National project and designation services to corporate, group and departmental priorities. You will form part of a small team in the Central Listing and Architectural Research team, providing National advice. You will work closely with the National Listing Adviser (Marine) to ensure smooth and efficient management of casework and projects, and if necessary provide support to regional listing teams.You will manage fixed term project staff and Placements and act as a mentor, assisting the National Listings Manager with developing training as required.Please note that the role:requires regular travel to sites not serviced by public transport.requires visiting/inspecting sites which is likely to require climbing scaffolding and negotiating confined spaces (e.g. church roofs).may require occasional attendance at community or planning meetings which are usually held at evenings or weekends.Who we are looking forKnowledge of one or more specialist aspects of the historic environment – archaeology, marine & coastal heritage, architectural and building history, history of landscape, designed landscape, and battlefields.Experience of Heritage project management and procurementAbility to deliver specialist assessments of the historic environment, including engagement with linked specialisms, to ensure holistic evaluation and recommendations, to deadlines.Experience of building and maintaining partnerships in project work.Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external partners, and a commitment to championing the interest of the historic environment to the public at large.Actively supports the roles and contributions of other groups, departments, and teams whether at a professional or individual level.We are an equal opportunity employer which values diversity and inclusion.
