We are a national alliance of racial, economic, and environmental justice organizations. Through shared principles and a common frame and theory of change, RTTC is building a national movement for democratic, just, and sustainable cities. RTTC Action is an affiliated 501(c)4 organization coordinating advocacy, lobbying, and integrated voter engagement (IVE) work, including electoral campaigns. While we take our commitments seriously, our work environment commonly includes jokes, laughter, celebration, and all other manner of enjoyable human experiences.Position SummaryRight to the City Action is looking for someone to join our energetic, visionary, and solutions-oriented national staff team to help build the powerful movement we need to win the right to the city and liberation for our people. The National Organizer for 501C4 Compliance and Infrastructure will provide strategic leadership to build the infrastructure necessary to grow the electoral power of the renter class at the trans-local municipal and state level. The ideal candidate will be multifaceted, politically grounded, able to adapt to changing conditions, believe deeply in self-determination and community power, and embody a commitment to both personal and systemic transformation.The National Organizer for Electoral Compliance and Infrastructure will lead the building and implementation of organizational and compliance infrastructure; support base-building member organizations in the RTTC-AF ecosystem to strengthen their compliance practices and infrastructure through annual programs and training, and take the lead on Right to the City Action’s logistics planning. This position will participate in the electoral engagement team, data strategy team, and operations team.This position will be supervised by the Right To The City Senior Organizer of Electoral Engagement and employed by Right to the City Action and will not be sponsored by Right to the City.Job ResponsibilitiesInternal Compliance and Infrastructure:

• Continuously seek opportunities to update and streamline Right to the City Action Fund’s compliance systems and infrastructure.
• Provide ongoing support to Right to the City/Right to the City Action’s staff to ensure adherence to organizational compliance systems & protocols.
• Host at least one annual organizational compliance and infrastructure training for Right to the City / Right to the City Action staff and RTTC Fiscally Sponsored Programs.
• Assist the Senior Organizer for Electoral Engagement in developing an organizational compliance strategy to enhance Right to the City Action’s overall strategy.
• Attend monthly finance team meetings to develop and monitor RTTC-AF budgets, reimbursements, and expense systems.
• Monitor and track all IRS reports that need to be submitted by Right to the City Action.

Grant and Regrant Management:

• Coordinate the yearly work plan for Right to the City Action re-grants that support member organizations to strengthen their 501c4 compliance and infrastructure.
• Review applications, conduct outreach to member organizations, interview and provide support and coaching to grantees, and collect and submit grant invoices and MOUs.
• Collaborate with the RTTC-AF Senior Organizer for Electoral Engagement and the RTTC-AF Board of Directors to design and implement systems that effectively cater to the rapid response compliance needs of member organizations the and Right to the City Action Fund.

Right to the City Action Member Support

• Identify and manage relationships with organizational compliance consultants and support members with external contracts involving these consultants.
• Engage Right to the City Action members to identify organizational compliance and infrastructure needs, and develop collective support and training offerings.
• Create and maintain a toolbox of compliance resources for member organizations, including sample cost-sharing agreements, 501C4 compliance management one-pagers, common compliance mistakes, and other relevant materials.
• Develop and host compliance trainings and/or establish partnerships with other organizations to provide trainings to member organizations and national staff.
• Support the development and implementation of RTTC-AF membership drives and tracking, employing effective strategies to engage and retain members.

Right to the City Action Organizational Support

• Support the Senior Organizer for Electoral Engagement and National Organizer for Data Strategy in ensuring compliant use of 501c4 lists, which includes reviewing tech contracts, data-cost sharing contracts, and other tech or data areas.
• Assist the Senior Organizer for Electoral Engagement and Director of Resource Development in ensuring compliant use of 501c4 revenues and grants and 501c3/501c4 resource sharing.

Additional Work Areas:

• Each National Organizer will be responsible for additional areas of work beyond engagement. These areas of work may change over time based on organization and movement needs, and always in consultation with the organizer.

Qualities We Are Looking For:

• Strategic Infrastructure Development. Experience building and managing organizational and movement infrastructure that is politically grounded, interdependent, clear, and accessible. Relevant experience could include a range of operations, financial, technical/technological, compliance, and governance functions for c4 and/or c3 organizations
• Training and Leadership Development. Prefer 2+ years of team leadership and training development experience

Required Qualifications

• 2- 3 years of base building and organizing experience working on local, statewide, federal, and/or electoral campaigns
• At least 1+ year experience with 501C3 and 501C4 compliance and legal protocols including but not limited to experience with cost-sharing documents, staff salary allocation between the two organizations, and tracking the primary and secondary purposes of each organization.
• Excellent writing and editing skills for media, policy, and popular audiences
• Drivers license and auto insurance

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to write and speak a second language, preferably Spanish
• Familiarity with CRM systems and Database management (Every Action)
• 1+ years experience in grant development, administration, and management
• 1+ years experience in creating training materials and training organizational staff.

General Requirements

• Support the mission, vision, and goals of the Right To The City Alliance
• Experience and familiarity with housing justice, gentrification, displacement, and anti-eviction work and/or grassroots base-building organizations and transformative organizing
• Experience in multi-racial, multicultural settings
• Knowledge of common computer applications: MS Office, Google Docs, Adobe Acrobat, Dropbox, Mac environment, and Zoom video teleconferencing systems
• Access to reliable internet, phone, and remote office arrangements. RTTC provides for the costs of home offices.

Location and Travel:The location is negotiable. RTTC has concentrations of staff in the following areas: Philly, Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn (physical office), and the SF Bay Area. Travel is required; frequency and duration of travel are negotiable. On average, this position will be expected to travel 1-2 times per month for a total of 5-10 days per month, year round. RTTC’s current COVID Safety Travel Policy does not require staff travel, however, that policy is being updated. All staff will be provided with at least two months’ notice if and when this policy changes and work-related travel is reinstated.Salary and BenefitsThis is a full non-exempt position. The salary range starts at $85,0000. Compensation commensurate with experience and competitive with our sector.
