(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check)Required for Professional RegistrationJob DescriptionIn accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.Reporting to the Director, Manager, or designate, the Nurse Informaticist leads and promotes the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that automate and/or enhance evidence-based clinical practices, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation via the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in collaboration with clinical operational leaders, service, program, staff and physiciansAs an integral regional member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Nurse Informaticist works to develop and redesign workflow and processes to improve the overall effectiveness, efficiency of Island Health.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training And ExperienceGraduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.Positions in IHealth require three years’ recent related experience in a health care environment, including experience using related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical change management, and/or project leadership.Positions in Public Health require three years’ recent related experience in a Public Health environment, including experience using related computer technology, clinical informatics, clinical change management, and/or project leadership.Skills And Abilities

Link to Full Job DescriptionAdditional information for applicantsThis position is to support the CI/NI/SI in Critical Care -ICU, HAU, and CCU inclusive of activated and non-activated sites. This position will be a key in the design and support teams as we implement IHealth and advanced tools, including CPOE in Intensive Care locations. While the Nurse Informatics position is posted as 0800-1600 Monday to Friday. We are required to cover operational and project need. This requires candidates are able to work onsite days, evenings, and nights during activations and cover night time on-call hours. Rotation changes are a requirement and can be 8-12 hours as needed for the success and support of the implementations.Additional ClausesBCNU: PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE POSTED FOR 72 HOURS.
