To accomplish this, we are seeking individuals with specialised skills to join our team. As an Occupational Therapist with the Adult First Contact Service, you will assist residents in regaining their independence by employing a preventative approach aimed at reducing and delaying the need for ongoing support.You will complete occupational therapy proportionate assessments to meet immediate needs and reduce risk, working with residents for up to 2 weeks. This may include providing equipment from our peripheral store, recommending adaptations and collaborating with both formal and informal caregivers to conduct moving and handling risk assessments. You will also work closely with colleagues in the Sutton Health and Care NHS teams and the Hospital Pathway Team. You will be responsible for screening and prioritising occupational therapy referrals from residents, community partners and health colleagues. Additionally, you will guide and supervise Enabling Independence Officers in the role of trusted assessors. The team will focus on the person’s strength and abilities, screening to see if the person has safeguarding, deprivation of liberty safeguards or Care Act eligibility. We also have a well established DoLS team of Best Interest Assessors (BIAs) undertaking assessments on behalf of the Borough, leading to Standard Deprivations of Liberty under the Mental Capacity Act. Our ambition is also to provide information and advice that supports our residents’ independence.About YouOur Occupational Therapists take a person-centred approach whilst working within a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree or an equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy, registered with HCPC.
  • Experience of Occupational Therapy (minimum 2 years) including major adaptations and complex moving and handling.
  • Experience of working with Adults and/or Children Social Care services, within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance in relation to working with and safeguarding vulnerable adults and children in social care.
  • A car for work purpose with business insurance, as you will be conducting visits to residents as necessary.
