Our client has a need for an Operations Manager who will lead the production, shipping/receiving, service and purchasing team and processes. This is a senior leadership position, and the candidate will be responsible for hiring, managing, supporting and safety of the operations team. It is critical that the candidate has a customer service mindset for both internal (sales) and external customers. Situational leadership skills are needed to know when to direct assertively and when to support collaboratively. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys learning and working in a dynamic small team environment. The candidate will be part of the senior leadership team acting as a thought partner alongside the sales manager and controller, reporting directly to the General Manager.
The client is a leader in designing, building, suppling and servicing storm-water and wastewater pump stations throughout Western Canada. For over 40 years we have used our pump station expertise with engineers, contractors and end users to reduce project risk and give peace of mind! The job is based out of their facility in Port Coquitlam. This position pays a competitive wage depending on skills and experience. The company also offers a comprehensive employee benefits package.What you will be doing:
- Lead a team of 6-8 people including shipping/receiving, production, service and purchasing
- Take ownership of the full operations process – purchasing, receiving, production, shipping and servicing
- Work in partnership with sales to ensure orders are produced and shipped in an accurate and timely manner
- Proactive communicate with customers and the sales team
- Support the HR functions of the operations team including hiring, motivating and cross-training
- Lead the EP safety program/meetings and ensure compliance with WorkSafe
- Coordinate with our IT consultant on computer issues as needed
- Organize building maintenance and repairs as needed
- Have a continuous improvement mindset to make processes more efficient
What you must have:
- Team-focused, positive and motivated attitude – attitude is everything!
- 5+ years of related leadership experience in a technical or manufacturing environment
- Project management experience
- Understanding of supply chain management including the procurement process and vendor negotiations
- Function effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment with a high attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Safety and customer service mindset
- Comfortable with computers – Outlook, Excel, Word, ERP system (Epicor P21)
- Engineering drawing interpretation – considered an asset
- Understanding of technical equipment (pumps, electrical controls, valves, etc.) – considered an asset
- Understanding of pipe assembly/welding – considered an asset
Salary/Rate Range: $130,000 – $170,000
