In particular, Kingston has a large Sri Lankan Tamil community and is home to more people from Korea than any other part of the UK.About the RoleOur two Outreach and Engagement Managers manage the day to day operations of the Music Service. They manage a tutor workforce of 60, plus an Instrument & Music Support Officer and 10 Music Centre Stewards. They ensure that the young people of the Royal Borough of Kingston have a range of affordable, accessible and inclusive musical activities on offer to them including events, ensembles, lessons and instrument hire both in and out of school.As Outreach & Engagement Manager, you will ensure the ongoing musical success of the service through:
- Expanding the range of affordable musical opportunities for young people across the borough through both internal delivery and partnership collaborations.
- Managing progression routes for children and young people, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity by working closely with schools and partners.
- Overseeing the development, promotion and delivery of high-quality music activities and events for children and young people.
- Working with school leaders to support music teaching and learning in schools.
- Collaborating with colleagues across Culture and Heritage and the wider council to develop a coherent public engagement offer.
You will be based in the KMS offices at the Hook Centre where we work closely with our library and adult education colleagues.About UsKingston Music Service (KMS) nurtures young people in the Royal Borough of Kingston regardless of background to create, perform, be inspired by and celebrate the music they love; reaching all corners of the borough, ensuring children who want to make music are able to. Each week, our skilled team of approximately 60 tutors provides instrumental and vocal lessons to over 1,500 pupils in schools and music centres. KMS hosts a variety of events, including primary singing festivals, family concerts, and school workshops. Our 11 ensembles, which feature String Orchestras, Jazz Bands, Percussion Ensembles, and Concert Bands, perform regularly throughout the year.KMS is part of South West London Music, the Hub Lead Organisation for SW London who work with partners to ensure that all children and young people in South West London have access to inspiring, enjoyable and brilliant music education.About You
