This is an exceptional opportunity to work with a dedicated group of professionals where teamwork, collegiality and a positive work culture are pillars of our success at Dentons.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer and manage commercial and residential real estate property transactions from start to finish under the supervision of a lawyer
  • Manage and coordinate complex subdivision (including leasehold, strata and airspace and subdivision) and other Land Title Office Filings
  • Draft correspondence and legal documents with respect to large-scale commercial and residential land development matters, including a variety of agreements and private arrangements, municipal covenants, rights of way and easements
  • Assist with the completion of commercial real property purchases, lending transactions, sales, financings
  • Register title and security documents in LTO and other government agencies
  • Prepare and review purchase and sales contracts, deposits, payout statements, discharge documents and reports
  • Prepare and file electronic filing applications for registration of documents and plans
  • Conduct, review and summarize various due diligence searches including title searches, Land Title, BC Corporate Registry, PPSA, CSO and other searches as required
  • Draft reporting letters
  • Communicate with vendors, purchasers, financial institutions, clients, realtors, other counsels and municipalities as needed
  • Liaise with internal and external parties and assisting with closings, coordination of financing payouts, status and final reporting
  • Manage and communicate with clients on real estate and LTO matters generally

REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience working in the area of land development
  • Paralegal certification preferred
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the requirements for filing with the BC Land Title Office
  • Seasoned communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to work effectively independently and to contribute within a highly collaborative, team environment
  • Able to exercise good and sound judgment
  • Proven track record of handling various deadlines in an organized manner in a fast-paced environment ever changing environment
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Strong team player, able to build effective relationships with key internal clients, as well as with other colleagues in the department;
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point), Adobe, BCOnline and myLTSA
