Based on 40 hours per week: $20.14 – $24.22 per hourMaintenance Service Worker 3 (MSW3) – Park Maintenance Crew Lead:
Based on 40 hours per week: $24.68 – $30.16 per hourIn addition to regular wages, regular Wage employees receive 11.2% in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:

• 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays.
• 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay.

In addition to the regular wages and the additional pay in lieu of benefits and vacation, regular wage employees are entitled to shift premium pay:

• $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays.
• $2.75 per hour for evenings.

Grande Cache:Role ResponsibilitiesIf you enjoy working outside and are committed to improving a visitor’s experience when visitors come to visit a provincial park, and want to help promote customer service in the parks by maintaining clean facilities and campgrounds, come join our Maintenance Team at any one of the listed Alberta Provincial Parks and Recreation Area locations within the Yellowhead Management Area.We are looking for highly motivated, well-organized, responsible Park Maintenance Workers for the 2025 summer season. Individuals will be part of a team accountable for providing regular maintenance and operational duties that support the day-to-day operation of campgrounds, day use areas, facilities and trail systems.We are currently looking to hire:
Hinton – William A. Switzer Provincial Park

• 1 Park Maintenance Crew Lead.
• Park Maintenance Workers.

Grande Cache – Pierre Grey’s Lakes Provincial Park, Sulphur Gates Provincial Recreation Area

• 1 Park Maintenance Crew Lead (oversees both areas).
• Park Maintenance Workers (works in both areas).

As a Park Maintenance Service Worker (MSW1), duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Performing landscaping and site servicing of campgrounds, day use areas and facilities.
• Performing routine and preventative maintenance on infrastructure, vehicles and equipment.
• Conducting water testing for small water systems.
• Operating equipment such as mowers, trimmers, pressure washers, ATVs, UTVs.
• Assisting with trail maintenance, beach and dock maintenance.
• Installing and maintaining signage.
• Painting.
• Reporting all maintenance concerns accordingly.
• Assisting with hazard tree management and invasive plant management programs.
• Being familiar with and practicing all pertinent occupational health & safety (OH&S) policies, procedures and protocols; and with the Facility Emergency Response Plan and protocols.
• Completing administrative tasks such as timesheets, expense claims, commencement and termination paperwork, and online courses.

Maintenance Workers in William A. Switzer: Will be required to assist Park Caretakers in performing daily janitorial duties of park facilities (i.e. washrooms, outhouses, picnic shelters, shower houses), garbage and recycling removal, campsite and group site cleaning.Role Responsibilities ContinuedMaintenance Workers in Grande Cache: Will be required to perform daily janitorial duties of park facilities (i.e. washrooms, outhouses, picnic shelters, shower houses), garbage and recycling removal, campsite cleaning.As the Park Maintenance Crew Lead (MSW3), primary duties include assisting with and performing (MSW1) duties in addition to some front-line administrative and supervisory tasks such as:

• Onsite lead for a crew of MSW staff; being accountable for direct site operations and provides input for task scheduling for other staff.
• Assisting with formal inspections, maintenance and servicing of equipment.
• Completing trail maintenance projects.
• Maintaining roads and parking lot areas.
• Assisting with playground routine inspections and maintenance.
• Installs and removes docks, maintains beaches.
• Operating heavy equipment such as loaders, graders, skid steers, garbage trucks, etc.
• Operating chainsaws, brush saws and other higher risk equipment.
• Assisting with water and wastewater system start-up/shut down.
• Conducting water testing for small water systems.
• Supporting the operation of various utility systems in accordance with standards and regulations to ensure safe provision of drinking water and wastewater removal/treatment.
• Purchasing and orders supply inventory within budget.
• Assisting with staff training and staff performance reviews.
• Assisting with service contract management.

Please note: The MSW3 in William A. Switzer will also be onsite lead for a team of Caretakers, who will be responsible for completing janitorial duties throughout the park.All positions will require you to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. You have the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week. • Some high school education or directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education.

Park Maintenance Crew Lead – Maintenance Service Worker 3

• Some high school education or related training, plus two years of related experience or directly related experience based on one year of experience for one year of education and some supervision experience.

Additional Assets to be successful in any of the roles:

• Experience with hand and power tools; good working knowledge in the operation, maintenance, and safety of small equipment.
• Experience working in custodial, landscaping, or similar positions.
• Chainsaw certification.
• Exceptional communication skills and comfort level in dealing with difficult customer interactions or complaints.
• Experience working within a campground setting.
• Supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements:

• A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Driver’s Abstract issued within 30 days of your application submission.
• Recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate.

• Prior to hire, recognized Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificate will be required for both positions.
• Adherence to Alberta Parks Uniform Policy; all personal protective equipment is provided. Certified Safety footwear is not provided, but candidates will be reimbursed for a portion of the cost.
• These positions will require outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Training sessions at the beginning of employment are mandatory (late April/early May).
• Staff housing may be available
