Partnership Officer (Esk & Coastal Streams)

Helmsley or Danby, North Yorkshire

The North York Moors National Park Authority looks after and promotes one of the most
phenomenal parts of the British Isles. Filled with breath-taking scenery, magnificent wildlife,
picture book villages and a dramatic coastline, the North York Moors boasts some of the most
diverse landscapes in the UK.

The River Esk emerges in the north of the National Park and flows through a patchwork of
heather moorland, mixed woodland and farmland before meeting the sea at Whitby estuary. The
catchment also encompasses multiple coastal streams including Sandsend, Eastrow and Staithes
Beck. The Esk is North Yorkshire’s only principal Atlantic salmon river and, crucially,
supports a small and endangered population of freshwater pearl mussels – the last remaining in
Yorkshire and a big focus for the catchment. We are working to restore and protect habitats,
reunite the river and people and work with key organisations, groups and people, combining our
expertise and resources to restore the River Esk and coastal streams.

We are now looking for a Partnership Officer to join us in support of work on the River Esk and
coastal streams on a full-time basis, working 37 hours per week for a fixed term contract until
30th September 2029.

The Benefits

  • Salary of £32,654 – £36,124 per annum
  • 25 days’ annual leave rising annually by one day to 30 days after five years’ service, plus
    public holidays
  • Local Government Pension Scheme

This is an inspiring opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with experience of partnership
working and rural engagement to join our passionate organisation.

You’ll get to step into a role where you can make a real impact on both people and nature,
developing and driving forward our innovative engagement programmes and helping to build a
brighter future for one of the UK’s most stunning landscapes.

What’s more, this long-term contract will see you developing your skill-set and significantly
enhancing your portfolio to include this critical project. By the end of the FTC, you’ll be
considered an expert on both the River Esk programme and partnership development, with the
network of contacts to prove it!

So, if you’re ready to use your skills to make a tangible difference to one of the most
beautiful areas of the UK, apply now and help us bring our vision for the North York Moors to
life!
