As a recognition of our commitment to quality and patient safety, we have received the highest distinction of Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada.Job SummaryPerform under the direction and supervision of the Pathologists; all duties related to the preparation, dissection and gross description of surgical specimens of all complexity, while adhering to all established protocols and proceduresQualifications

• Current CCCPA Certification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Medical Laboratory Technologist with advanced level courses in anatomy and physiology
• Graduate of Pathologist Assistant training program preferred
• Prior experience as a Pathologist Assistant
• CoPath and Dragon voice dictation experience an asset
• Understanding of fixation and tissue structure preservation
• Understanding of specimen sampling and impact on subsequent specimen processing
• Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
• Ability to perform tasks and assignments under pressure and time constrictions while remaining calm and composed
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology with emphasis on the pathological presentation of disease
• Strong observational skills and exceptional attention to detail
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently
• Ability to contribute and work within an interdisciplinary team
• Commitment to professional accountability and high standard of performance
• Computer literacy in windows based applications
• Working knowledge of laboratory safety requirements with a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace
• Ability to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
• Demonstrated problem assessment skills
• Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
• Demonstrated individual leadership skills
