Act as the point of reference to all stakeholders across the Bank. The role represents the view of the team from the customer lens understanding and adapting anything that would impact the professionalism and experience our customers received.The role holder will apply their payments knowledge at both industry and business level to improve working relationships within the bank and effectively, efficiently process payment instructions. The role holder will support the Payments Manager and Senior Payments Officer to help the payments department evolve and develop in accordance with regulatory and business requirements.Role Responsibilities:Manually processing a high volume of paymentsDirect debit and standing order processingDirect debit and standing orders letter writingDirect debit and credit originationManual keying of Faster Payments and CHAPS paymentsManual keying of SEPA paymentsManual keying of international paymentsManual repair of paymentsManual keying of SWIFT messagesMonitoring sanctions screeningManual reconciliation processesConducting payment investigationsActioning payments recalls and direct debit indemnity claimsSupporting colleagues with manual processingProviding exceptional customer service to exceed client expectationHigh performance is expected to meet SLA requirementsCommunicating with internal and external stakeholders, including customers following identification proceduresInterpreting bank mandatesTo be able to deal with customer queries in person, by telephone (phone to be answered within 3 rings) and or in writingWe may request that you undertake alternative activities which (still within Operations) are not specific to the tasks outlined within this role profile. This is to allow us to collaborate and meet customer demand in all areas of Operations. This will be for a defined and limited period and full training will be provided to you where this need is identified.RequirementsWhat you will bring to the role:
Necessary experience or qualifications:Payment subject matter expertProven ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environmentAbility to meet schedules and deadlines with thorough, accurate and quality workSelf-motivated with excellent organisational skills and in-depth analytic skillsComfortable with ambiguity and change, and happy working in a fast-paced environmentProactive ‘problem resolver’, owning and resolving issuesAbility to liaise with key business areasStrong verbal communication skills.Self-motivated individual with a “can do” attitude and ability to energise others.Must have a minimum of five GCSE’s grade A-C (including Maths and English) or equivalent. Two A Level grades A-D are desirable.Whilst not imperative, banking experience is preferred, as is experience in remitting CHAPS, SWIFT and financial reconciliationsBenefits
