Description
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing union payroll, reports, and government taxes. Supports the day to day functions of the payroll team.

Coordinate with field management staff to collect union new hire paperwork. Ensure information is complete and accurate. Follow up on any issues or missing information.

Create union employee record in ERP system, updating employment data or status changes. Ensure severance, termination, and disciplinary forms are reflected appropriately.

Review field time entry reports for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem. Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.

Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle checks in a timely manner by importing time details and validating entries created. Confirm calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes. Ensure paychecks are distributed on time.

Prepare monthly union remittances. Using system reports, calculate amounts and submit payment requests, ensuring reconciliation between liabilities accrued and payments. Match payments with labor details and remit to appropriate funds.

Prepare reports, check for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies as part of business recordkeeping and compliance activities.

Respond to and resolve any union employee payroll inquiries.

Process employment verifications and unemployment claims by deadline outlined. Escalate unemployment hearing notices to Human Resources.

Submit new hire reports to state agencies.

Process child support and other court orders as necessary.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of payroll experience required

Experience processing construction payroll preferred.

Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred.

Must have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
