Payroll Specialist – AZCO (Appleton, WI)

Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing union payroll, reports, and government taxes. Supports the day to day functions of the payroll team.

  • Coordinate with field management staff to collect union new hire paperwork. Ensure information is complete and accurate. Follow up on any issues or missing information.

  • Create union employee record in ERP system, updating employment data or status changes. Ensure severance, termination, and disciplinary forms are reflected appropriately.

  • Review field time entry reports for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem. Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.

  • Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle checks in a timely manner by importing time details and validating entries created. Confirm calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes. Ensure paychecks are distributed on time.

  • Prepare monthly union remittances. Using system reports, calculate amounts and submit payment requests, ensuring reconciliation between liabilities accrued and payments. Match payments with labor details and remit to appropriate funds.

  • Prepare reports, check for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies as part of business recordkeeping and compliance activities.

  • Respond to and resolve any union employee payroll inquiries.

  • Process employment verifications and unemployment claims by deadline outlined. Escalate unemployment hearing notices to Human Resources.

  • Submit new hire reports to state agencies.

  • Process child support and other court orders as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of payroll experience required

  • Experience processing construction payroll preferred.

  • Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred.

  • Must have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
