We are looking for an enthusiastic Applied Controls Placement Student to join our team in Calibration Integration, for the Engine Business Unit in Darlington. This product focused position releases engine software for Cummins products. You will support the team by processing engine calibration tunings, supporting cross functional design reviews and releasing software that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential! This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 1 July 2025.
This position is a hybrid position.
About you
- To be currently studying a STEM subject at degree level with an allowance for a 12-month industry placement
- Enthusiasm and aptitude for new product development and continuous improvement
- Ability to follow structured problem-solving processes to resolve issues
- Knowledge of application of Engineering Standards and ability to produce high quality, concise technical documentation
- Experience or knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink

- Using calibration development and management tools to process parameter changes (tunings)
- Verification and validation task execution for developed calibration
- Understanding calibration structure to help analyze required changes and identify required options and parts to be released
- Technical documentation for design reviews, change requests and tech reports
- Work in global cross-functional teams to support project planning, change reviews and continuous improvement of tools and processes
