Post category : Production and engineering, Scientific and technical positionsProvince : QuebecRegion : Lanaudiere, Montreal and surroundingsRecruiter :Contact us :Job description :As Plant Manager, reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the production and maintenance departments, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. You will organize, direct and manage the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing shop in accordance with the production plan received from the planning department.Responsibilities :

  • Quality and Safety: Ensure that work is of high quality and that safety practices are followed and that all company policies are followed by each member of the production team. Correct problem situations where necessary.
  • Health & Safety Inspections: Carry out regular inspections.
  • Personnel Management: Ensure adequate staffing levels within the production department. You will be responsible for hiring, firing and disciplining the production team. Manage employee attendance.
  • Training and Coaching: Provide training and coaching. Identify and implement appropriate corrective actions. Provide constructive feedback to employees.
  • Communication: Ensure that relevant information is communicated to employees.

  • Work Planning and Distribution: Plan work and distribute tasks via production managers.
  • Liaison: Act as a link between production managers and the Operations Manager.
  • IT Tools: Use our ERP software and other IT tools for daily follow-up with suppliers of supplies and maintenance, as well as other internal stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Present the department’s daily results at daily meetings.
  • Maintenance: Hire and supervise external contractors and manage the maintenance engineer during equipment installation. Provide support to the team when necessary.
  • Inventory: Participate in the annual year-end inventory count.
  • Production Review: Actively participate in the daily production review. Report progress, problems encountered and actions taken.
  • Productivity: Ensure that budgeted productivity levels are maintained and improved.
  • Procedures: Ensure that procedures are known and applied consistently.
  • Assistance: Help and solve problems in the plant as they arise.

Skills and qualifications :

  • Language skills: Excellent communication skills in French and English (oral and written).
  • Education: University degree in mechanical engineering or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing, including 3 years in a leadership role.
