Job Title: Platform EngineerReports to: Engineering ManagerLocation: Work remotelyDirect Reports: NAKooth is a fast-growing business with a social purpose. Listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE:KOO), our mission is to provide welcoming and effective digital mental health support.Working in partnership with the NHS, we are already the UK’s largest digital mental health platform for young people aged 10-25. We use the collective insight from over one million hours of professional support we have provided to guide people to self-help, community support, and professional help that matches their wants, needs, and goals in life.Role ObjectiveWorks within a platform squad to maintain and improve Kooth’s cloud infrastructure and tooling. Understands the business and makes technical and/or delivery decisions based on its direction.Key Components

Main Responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing and maintaining cloud infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services, using Terraform and good Infrastructure-as-Code practices
• Developing and maintaining tools and shared libraries to maximise reliability and observability of the software and services we run, using Node.js as the primary language
• Supporting software engineers with tasks and investigations involving infrastructure and during incidents
• Advise and consult with other squads on cloud infrastructure and reliability matters to help them maximise their impact
• Uphold and implement compliance and security best practices
• Leveraging best practices in continuous integration and delivery to drive an experimentation-based learning culture and iterate on product objectives
• Collaborating across disciplines to build effective working relationships, solve challenging problems for our users, and drive positive business outcomes
• Working with engineering leadership to create an empowered, ambitious and diverse engineering culture with a strong care for craft
• Participating in an off-hours on-call rotation to support the ongoing reliable operation of our systems.

RequirementsEssential

• Significant and recent experience with AWS or GCP
• Experience with observability tools for metrics, log aggregation and request tracing
• Ability to devise telemetry data that is correlated with actual customer outcomes
• In–depth understanding of Terraform
• Working knowledge of Javascript and Node.js
• Passion for helping teams to deliver reliable and observable software
• Database technologies such as PostgreSQL, Google Datastore, BigQuery
• An understanding of modern cloud architecture patterns
• Focus on pragmatic delivery, able to take ownership and initiative to balance constraints
• Strong communication skills, builds great colleague relationships across disciplines

Nice to have

• Experience within an event-sourcing architecture

• Experience with rapid application development techniques such as trunk-based development, automated testing at all levels and infrastructure-as-code
• Experience with messaging technologies like Kafka or RabbitMQ
• Web application development experience using React
