Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this. Exceptions to starting salary may apply if you are an existing Devon and Cornwall or Dorset Police Staff employee substantively posted to a role at the same grade.Type of employment: PermanentType of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker – Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely (usually, but not necessarily, from home) and some in the employer’s workspace.Hours per week: this role is 37 hours per week. However we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.About the role:Are you looking for an exciting role in a busy political office with the reward of contributing to making Devon and Cornwall a safer place to live?The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is looking for new Executive Support Officers to join our small but dynamic team based at Middlemoor Police HQ.What is the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner?We are a small team supporting the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in their duties. The Police and Crime Commissioner is an elected position, whose role is to be the voice of the people in policing, and to hold the Chief Constable to account for how they discharge their functions. We work with the largest geographical police force area in the country to make our area safer for the 1.8 million residents of Devon and Cornwall that the Commissioner represents.What is the role?Our Accountability & Standards Team are responsible for the office’s programme of scrutiny work, monitoring the performance and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan vision on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner. The team are responsible for oversight of a number of statutory functions on behalf of the office including police conduct processes, community scrutiny, police complaint reviews, freedom of information and data protection and risk management.The Policy Officer will support the team with research, data analysis and horizon scanning with a specific focus on:

  • The Police and Crime Commissioner’s role in Police Conduct processes
  • Independent Custody Visits
  • Freedom of Information requests
  • Risk Management
