Principal Data EngineerLocation: London Hybrid (3 days a week)Salary: To £100,000 + Bonus + BenefitsJob DescriptionInvestigo is partnered with an industry-leading technology logistical organisation, who are currently carrying out a huge data build out for their industry first application. This role would see you having a true impact on the global supply chain and the ways some of the leading organisations move goods around the world.This Principal Data Engineer position would see you have critical involvement in implementing best-in-practice dataset and being 100% hands-on. They are looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and can really take ownership of the project, working in a small team of data engineers. You will be involved from inception to delivery of this project having a real say on all of the business’s technology.You will be the Principal Data Engineer, taking real ownership of the projects. You will be leading from the front with your technical leadership and helping guide the team forward. This opportunity won’t just affect the organisation you work for but will have a true effect on the carbon footprint of global transportation.The Successful ApplicantThe successful Principal Data Engineer will have the following skills:
- Strong engineering background with extensive experience in ETL optimisation, big data processing, and modernising legacy data structures using contemporary evidence models and data assets
- Leadership in a technology-driven environment with a national and international scope, including over 5 years in senior roles managing data engineering and analytical processes
- Proven track record in hiring, retaining, and scaling diverse, high-performing teams, with an adaptable leadership style to meet team and situation needs
- Proficiency in optimising data distribution, partitioning, parallel processing, and familiarity with data engineering frameworks on AWS or comparable cloud platforms, as well as Big Data technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Pig, and Spark
- Experience in product development and market introduction, balancing risk with quality product delivery, and passionate about leveraging data to drive value in global trade through collaborative and strategic approaches.
