Join us as we continue to build the technology foundation that will drive our success over the next decade and beyond.Role OverviewAs Principal Delivery Lead within our Product & Technology Group (CAPTG), you will be at the helm of major transformation initiatives, overseeing the delivery of high-impact software products and services that support our UK and European businesses. Our systems underpin millions in revenue across the Wholesale division, and you will be instrumental in shaping the future of this evolving technology estate.You will work with cross-functional teams spanning architecture, engineering, product, and business partners to deliver next-generation customer-facing, software-as-a-service applications. Your role will be pivotal in driving successful outcomes, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that our software delivery is consistently of the highest standard.This is a unique opportunity to lead and influence large-scale, complex projects across Europe, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will help drive the digital transformation of the business while promoting modern delivery practices and contributing to the strategic vision for CAPTG.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of major CAPTG projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Oversee projects that span multiple teams, managing complex scope and inter-dependencies while aligning with broader business and strategic goals.
  • Provide continuous strategic input on delivery plans, adjusting as necessary to keep the team on track.

Risk Management & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and manage risks, escalating where necessary and implementing mitigation strategies to avoid delays or cost overruns.
  • Ensure ongoing program-level continuous improvement, facilitating retrospectives and leading initiatives to refine delivery processes.
  • Track and report on KPIs such as velocity, cycle time, and defect rates, providing key insights for stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with director-level stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project goals and progress.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders regarding delivery status, managing expectations with regular updates on risks, changes, and progress.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment across Product, Engineering, Architecture, and Business teams.

Agile Delivery Practices

  • Champion Agile delivery practices (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) to ensure efficiency and alignment with customer needs.
  • Manage backlog integrity and ensure accurate reporting using Agile tools.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and ensure that teams have the support and resources to meet delivery goals.

Coaching & Mentorship

  • Coach and mentor team members on Agile processes, practices, and mindset, empowering teams to take ownership of their products and processes.
  • Promote a servant-leadership approach, encouraging an environment of mutual respect, openness, and trust.
  • Help embed a “you build, you run it” culture across the organisation.

Strategic Product Execution

  • Support the Head of Architecture and CAPTG SLT in defining the long-term strategy for delivery and improving operational models, processes, and efficiencies.
  • Work closely with business leaders to drive improvements in product engineering, transforming organisational and operating models to facilitate better coordination and collaboration.

Community of Practice

  • Establish and participate in a Delivery Community of Practice, helping to maintain alignment across teams, learn new techniques, and improve technical and quality practices.

Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceEssential:

  • 3-5+ years in a dedicated delivery leadership role, overseeing complex projects in Agile environments.
  • Experience leading teams in the delivery of high-quality software within large-scale, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience working with Agile frameworks (Scrum, XP, SAFe, Kanban, etc.).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with director-level stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Deep understanding of Lean Thinking, Systems Thinking, and their implementation in large organisations.
  • Proven experience with Lean Portfolio Management and driving continuous improvements across programs.
  • Familiarity with backlog management, metrics collection, and KPI reporting.

Desired:

  • Experience in Agile transformation within large or complex organisations.
  • Strong background in driving cross-functional collaboration in large teams.
  • Knowledge of delivery tooling such as Jira, Confluence, and Productboard.
  • Experience in coaching teams and embedding Agile practices across multiple product engineering teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Must be located near Manchester or Leeds, with flexibility to attend on-site 2-3 days per week as required.
