In addition to analysis, interpretation and reporting of genomics data from patients in either rare and inherited disease or cancer genomics fields, the successful candidate will support both STP and Route 2 trainees and be the designated departmental Training Officer for the Genomics STP programme.Attached you will find the person specification document which provides more detail about the essential and desirable skills and experience needed for this role. This would be a good opportunity for an experienced Senior Clinical Scientist to step up to a management role, develop their leadership skills and contribute to service development. HCPC registration and experience in complex variant interpretation (SNV and/or CNV) are essential requirements of the role. We welcome applications from candidates with either Rare Disease or Cancer Genomics background.WGLS is a member of the Central & South Genomic Laboratory Hub. Employment will be with UHS but the role will be based within Salisbury District Hospital.Your responsibilities: You will join our diagnostic Rare and Inherited Disease or Cancer team who are committed to patient-centered service provision through accurate and timely data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of genomic information. Attention to detail is essential to ensure that patient results are delivered in a safe and efficient way in order to direct patient management and therapeutic decisions.Key components of the role will be: report authorisation and responsibility for service delivery in a specified area of the department including line management of scientists. Through collaboration with relevant management teams, you will contribute to the overall management and direction of the Department. You will also be involved in training and education within your section and in liaising with other healthcare professionals to develop and maximise the effectiveness of the service.What we are looking for: an HCPC registered scientist with considerable diagnostic laboratory experience; excellent clinical and scientific knowledge of human genetics and the ability to critically analyse and interpret complex scientific data; good communication and leadership skills.
