The Backend Engineer role holds significant influence, shaping the trajectory of the company’s future in close collaboration with the Founders.Some of the responsibilities you will tackle are:Enable foundation models to be applied to multimodal data at scaleScale our platform to meet challenging multi tenant usage patternsMaintain a rich suite of APIs to power all our internal and B2B clientsShip to production multiple times a day, working in tandem with PMs/Designers to solve user problemsOur BE is in Elixir (Erlang) with Phoenix, and FE is Vue.js. Our deep learning framework of choice is Pytorch. We don’t expect you to know Pytorch. If you don’t know Elixir, that’s ok, but you’ll have to learn it. (some of our team members had no Elixir experienced when they started and had no problem learning it).Requirements:A Degree in Computer Science, or similar.3+ years experience as a Backend Engineer with strong architectural design skills (we are hiring both mid and senior level in London)Experience with functional programming. Familiarity with Elixir is a plus, but other languages like Scala, GoLang, Node.js, Haskell, Clojure, and F# are also great.Infrastructure management experience at scale; you should be comfortable in using AWS and terraform.Proficiency in queue management and observability.Experience with orchestration tools like Docker.Knowledge of GenAI and prompt engineering is a plus.You thrive most during the initial years of a company’s inception, particularly relishing the dynamics of small team environments.Customer-centricity is paramount. Engineers are integral to every stage of the delivery process, necessitating a strong product focus.
