The Production and Marketing Manager would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.Reporting to the Director, Codes Canada, the incumbent manages all activities related to the production and marketing of Codes Canada publications, which include the National and Provincial Construction Codes and advisory documents, the Canadian National Master Construction Specification (NMS), as well as the Registry of Product Assessments, as produced by the Canadian Construction Materials Centre (CCMC). These products are sold or distributed to thousands of government officials and construction professionals, are offered in both print and electronic formats, and in both official languages. The incumbent provides leadership in the establishment and implementation of overall document production plans and related marketing strategies, including the definition of products and services, development of business cases for new products, pricing recommendations, and management of the overall production and delivery of products.In conducting these duties, the incumbent provides direction to and supervision of a team of employees who carry out inter-related but distinct responsibilities, such as ensuring the delivery of editing and translation services, ensuring the operation, development, modernization, and maintenance of the required IM/IT applications and services, managing the design, content, format, production and delivery of publications, and coordinating product production in print and electronic format, in both official languages.The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing and supporting the implementation and execution of codes-related communications plans and the launch of codes products, as well as a broad range of activities.Duties also include liaison with provinces and territories and other key client groups in the development of partnership opportunities while ensuring intellectual property is consistently negotiated and protected. In carrying out this work, the incumbent works in close cooperation with managers of the CC, the CCMC and NMS, legal services, Communications Branch, Contracting team, and the Intellectual Property Services group, as well as external service providers.Screening CriteriaApplicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:EducationUniversity degree in a field related to business administration or technical writing/editing/translation or communications.An equivalent combination of a university degree in another field combined with relevant experience may be considered.For information on certificates and diplomas issued abroad, please seeExperience

  • Significant and recent experience in the delivery of complex technical documents in both official languages, including experience in the production and multi-media distribution of documents using IT tools.
  • Significant and recent management experience, including project budget planning and management of staff.
  • Significant experience in working with internal and external clients.
  • Significant experience in product marketing and in negotiating business services contracts.
  • Significant experience overseeing and managing product launches.
  • Experience implementing communications plans may be considered an asset.

Competency Profile(s)For this position, the NRC will evaluate candidates using the following competency profile(s): ;CompensationThis position is classified as a Research Council Officer (RCO), a group that is unique to the NRC. Candidates are remunerated based on their expertise, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level. The salary scale for this group is vast, from $63,470 to $179,422 per annum, which permits for employees of all levels from new graduates to world renowned experts to be fairly compensated for their contributions.In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.NRC employees enjoy a wide-range of including a robust pension plan, comprehensive health and dental coverage, disability and life insurance, office closure at the end of December, and additional supports to enhance your well-being throughout your career and beyond.Notes
