Professional Practice Consultant, NursingCorrectional Health Services / BC Mental Health & Substance Use ServicesBurnaby, BCThis role is a nursing role and primary care and/or medical surgical nursing experience essential.What you’ll do

  • Provide leadership in creating, articulating, innovating and sustaining an organization wide vision for inter-professional collaborative practice that emphasizes highest quality, family-centred care. Support strong inter-professional collaboration through the development of structures, processes and mechanisms that support positive patient outcomes. Utilize and model effective change management strategies to achieve systems level transformation.
  • Support organizational strategy deployment, ensuring that professional practice priorities are aligned with PHSA and provincial strategic priorities. Track, analyze and report progress in relation to designated performance indicators.
  • Ensure professional standards and regulations, practice guidelines and code of ethics for all assigned professions are achieved working in collaboration with discipline leaders. Provide professional practice input and decision making to clinical information system design and implementation, particularly as it relates to scope.
  • Participate in policy and procedure development, including those related to clinical informatics, consults and/or participates in system change processes for implementation and evaluation of information systems in practice settings. Participate in design of data collection tools for practice decision-making and record keeping. Participate in determining the impact of clinical information systems on the roles of the inter-professional team to improve the use of informatics within clinical practice, and encourage professionals to develop comfort and competency in technology use in practice.
  • Provide leadership for a wide range of projects designed to address PHSA-wide operational goals and vision. In collaboration with PHSA agencies and programs, plan and implement complex projects and initiatives aimed at improving; inter-professional collaborative practice, new technology integration, innovative practice approaches and models of care to enhance patient outcomes. Integrate regulatory or contractual policies and agreements. Direct and supervise the work of contractors and project teams. Assist with operating and capital budget development and develops and manage budgets and contractors related to assigned projects.

What you bringQualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in the applicable profession such as Nursing, Allied Health or related Health Sciences field, plus five (5) years of recent, related experience including two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • Current practicing registration with own discipline professional regulatory body.
  • Informatics training/certification an asset.
  • Primary care and/or medical surgical nursing experience essential.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge in facilitation of inter-professional practice.
  • Current knowledge of controls on practice, regulatory bodies, and the Health Professions and Occupations Act.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in providing care.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of PHSA mission, vision, values, strategic directions and goals.
  • Knowledge of research processes and methodology.
  • Well-developed project planning and management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, including the ability to adjust to new or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team and ability to function as an effective leader, mentor, and facilitator.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, and to work effectively with co-workers, other health care professionals, and with the various PHSA programs.
  • Ability to work autonomously and be self-directed and agile in complex and changing environments.
  • Ability to work with emerging technologies, including development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and to participate in and support the learning of others.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $106,026 – $152,413/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
