It is a Company with a 60-year history in Vancouver with diverse cultures, talents, and highly skilled professionals. Chemetics operates a specialized alloy fabrication shop in Pickering, ON.We are currently recruiting for a Project Accountant. Our team includes world class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based at our fabrication facility in Pickering, ON Canada. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Project Accountant is responsible to provide timely and reliable information for financial reporting and project management. Each Project Accountant will be responsible for multiple projects and/or business streams, varying in size. This position has an in-office requirement of 3 days per week.Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the set up and maintenance of projects in the Oracle based business system in accordance with accounting policies; establishes and maintains pricing schedules, payment plans, invoicing calendars, and multicurrency billing.
- Interprets contract terms and conditions and builds commercial terms into project set ups to ensure maximum profitability.
- Acts as Business Partner to support Project Managers and prepares project and business analysis and reporting.
- Challenges the financial and commercial health of projects during regular project reviews with operations.
- Produces and analyzes trend and variance reports as needed.
- Prepares and analyzes cash flow reporting in multiple currencies, manages Foreign Exchange transactions and hedges.
- Performs in-depth cost reviews and percent of completion calculations monthly and books revenue events on Lump sum projects.
- Prepare project budgets and forecasts and assists with quarterly business forecasting.
- Prepare timely client invoices as per contractual milestones.
- Prepare commercial invoices and other documentation for shipping and exportation.
- Manage payment letters of credit, including negotiation and preparation of documentation presentation packages.
- Initiate and prepare journal entries.
- Assist during internal and external audit processes.
QualificationsWhat you will bring:Technical and Industry Experience:
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience in project accounting or similar function
- Experience costing, estimating, and assisting with budget preparation
- Advanced MS Office Excel skills
- Familiar with ERP and BI environments, specifically Oracle and Hyperion are an asset
- Experience with exportation; including and understanding of Incoterms and Payment Letters of Credit is an asset
- Experience with inventory management is an asset
- Experience with FX hedging is an asset
- Commits to building enduring relationships and delivering optimal customer solutions.
