Job Description:Staffinity is currently seeking a Project Accountant for a client located in Toronto. This is a permanent position with base salary, benefits, bonus, vacation and RRSP matching. The base salary range is 80-85k. The position will start out hybrid with 2 days per week in the downtown office and will eventually transition to fully remote. The work schedule is 37.5 hours per week with every Friday a half day!Responsibilities:
- Review contract terms and conditions (and modifications) in relation to project setup, billing requirements, costing, tax compliance, and labor standards/rates to ensure compliance in accounting system
- Coordinate AP, including monitoring and ensuring vendors and subcontractor invoices are booked, or accrued, and paid timely
- Coordinate month end P&L analysis, revenue recognition, WIP review, and estimates
- Provide monthly reporting of project (revenue, margin, cash flow, etc.) and office metrics
- Manage weekly/monthly AR reports and collections
- Provide internal assistance and training
- Work closely with PM’s, office managers and administrators to process project accounting needs
- Ensure adherence to revenue recognition and accruals.
- Ensure adherence to government, Provincial/State regulations, and taxes to ensure compliance at the Project level and branch/business unit level
- Assist with the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and/or systems
- Maintain record retention guidelines
- Lead the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve the invoicing processes
Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant Project Accounting experience
- Strong understanding of Project Accounting principles and practices
- Degree in Commerce/Business/Accounting or a related field
- Experience in Construction or Engineering
- Strong technical accounting proficiency in billing and cost accounting
- Ability to identify issues, analyze data and develop solutions
- Must have advanced Excel skills (macros, pivot tables, etc)
- Strong leadership, management, financial analysis, and communication skills
- Organized and detailed oriented
- Excellent English language skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work independently or in a team
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
