Join us as we build a knowledgeable and collaborative team that courageously changes how transit projects will be delivered.Start Rate – (Non-negotiable): $46.96The GO Expansion office is looking for a Project Coordinator to coordinate the design and construction of assigned physical infrastructure projects, in a safe, timely, consistent, and cost-effective manner. This Project Office is involved in a range of civil works, including stations; grade separations; bridge design, utility relocations etc., and this role requires stakeholder management with various government bodies and municipalities (i.e., City of Toronto).What will I be doing?
- Oversee contractor project work to ensure adherence to the Project Agreement, Metrolinx Engineering Standards, Building Code, Site Plan Control Requirements, and internal user group specifications throughout design and construction administration.
- Manage the procurement process for subcontractor approvals, coordinating internal technical and commercial reviews.
- Review property requests from contractors with the internal stakeholders and facilitate formal requests to the Metrolinx property team.
- Coordinate evaluations of contractors’ site work plans to minimize customer impacts, secure necessary internal and external approvals, and ensure timely reviews while adhering to schedule constraints.
- Supervise all site and construction activities, collaborating closely with contractors both on-site and from the office, including conducting occasional site visits.
- Plan and report on all capital project expenditures, including consultant fees, purchase orders, construction contracts, change orders, and cost-sharing agreements with public or private organizations.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to manage risks, costs, schedules, permits, and other performance indicators throughout project execution.
- Thrive in a fast-paced construction environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to address issues and facilitate project delivery.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- A college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience providing a thorough knowledge of the theories and practices of engineering/architecture.
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience is required for this role
- Experience managing municipal or governmental stakeholders such as City of Toronto is highly desirable
- At least 5 years experience in the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure and transit facilities, with a focus on interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and coordinating contracted engineering projects.
- Experience with building infrastructure on the railway corridor is highly desirable. Experience with bridges, platforms, stations, grade separations, etc.
- Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License in good standing will be required.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering theories, principles, and utility design practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of project management, including cost control, scheduling, codes, standards, specifications, corporate procedures, and applicable contract legislation.
- Familiarity with Railway Rules and Regulations, as well as Safety and Operating procedures.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work independently and think analytically.
- Proficiency in project management software and applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, GIS and AutoCAD is preferred.
