Then this could be the next step in your career!Create Solutions that will enable a better tomorrowWe are looking for a Deputy Project Specialist to join our global team of experts and manage a functional team that is responsible for performing engineering analysis, design, and technical reports and drawings for tunnels and various underground structures, such as deep shafts, cut-and-cover structures, and mined tunnels and caverns for metro transit, infrastructure, bridges or hydroelectric power projects. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with management of multidisciplinary teams as well as managing the delivery of your own tasks in terms of budget, quality, and timelines.Initially this position will fill a role as a design coordinator for a large infrastructure project in the province. The position will require both strong project management skills and strong technical skills and will provide opportunities to grow and develop leadership skills.The position will be based in COWI’s North Vancouver office and may at times require visiting the site for meetings and inspections for durations of up to one week.On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Support the Project Manager and technical staff in managing the COWI engineering team to deliver the project scope.
- Assist with coordination and collaboration between COWI and the Client, the Contracting team and other stakeholders during the construction of the project.
- Coordinate delivery of Engineer Services During Construction (ESDC) to the Client within agreed schedules and perform field inspections as required under direct supervision of the Engineer of Record.
- Assist with commercial management of the project including cost monitoring, invoicing, risk management and contract changes.

- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Engineering with a focus on structures.
- A professional engineer designation (P.Eng) (preferred).
- A professional project management accreditation (preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in project design teams for delivery of infrastructure projects.
- Experience in coordinating & managing multi-discipline engineering design teams.
- Experience and familiarity with regional building/bridge codes and specifications.
