Regular travel to the Alex Fraser Research Forest in Williams Lake, B.C. will be required.Job SummaryThe Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Academy is a training initiative that is currently in development at the Alex Fraser Research Forest (AFRF) in Williams Lake, BC as a partnership between UBC and FPInnovations. The goal is to provide practical training in the areas of biomass combined heat and power operation, maintenance, and biomass supply chains. Students will also do a variety of online training modules to support the in-person training. Aimed primarily at remote Indigenous communities, workshops will be held at AFRF starting in the winter of 2024/25. The Project Manager will provide coordination for the successful implementation of both the in-person workshops and online training modules, including some content development.This Project Manager works closely with UBC staff and FPInnovations to provide leadership and oversight in CHP’s training module content and curriculum development. The position will manage the online and onsite training processes. This includes planning customized training sessions based on the needs of the community and responding promptly to all general enquiries. This position contributes to the optimal function of the AFRF office by working independently to ensure program requirements are complete, consistent and compliant with relevant Occupational Health and Safety regulations prior to the training. This position is responsible for implementing the project in a professional, efficient, and effective manner.Organizational StatusUnder the general direction of AFRF’s Manager, the successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean Research Forests and Community Outreach, who provides overall strategic management.The Project Manager will work closely with staff of the AFRF and FPInnovations, and will coordinate and supervise contractors as required. The Project Manager will also have a close working relationship with faculty and staff at UBC and external partners.Work Performed

This Project Manager will work with a high level of independence. Supervision will be provided by the Manager of the Alex Fraser Research Forest, with regular check-ins with the Associate Dean Research Forests and Community Outreach.Supervision Given
May supervise contractors and graduate students as hired for this project.Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
