The Role
As a Project Support Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You can play your part as a Project Support Officer at the front of delivering some of the UK’s key Defence and Security contracts by providing key administrative support to the project team and wider business, as well as managing a small portfolio of minor tasks.
Day-to-day, you’ll be providing end-to-end delivery of all contract tasking and projects, you’ll report to a Senior Project Manager. Managing a high volume of transactional tasks across a number of engineering-based contracts based globally, role offers great variety in tasking and the opportunity to work directly with our customers.
- Providing day-to-day support, as well as deputising for Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers for the delivery of complex projects and work packages.
- Production and maintenance of high-quality project documentation such as project schedules, risk registers, action logs, change requests, health and safety documentation, Gate review packs and handover documentation.
- Providing regular and accurate management information reporting to customers and seniors
- Managing all aspects of a portfolio of minor tasks, including customer and supplier liaison, financial and schedule management.
- Registering new customer tasking, responding to customer queries and the production of quotations and minor proposals to customers within our contractual service level agreements.
- Monitoring and updating of internal tasking systems to ensure that task workflows are appropriately managed and key updates and actions are fulfilled in a timely and accurate manner.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with working days in the office/onsite and working days working from home. In this role the successful candidate may be required to work for longer periods onsite if the project demands.
Essential Experience of the Project Support Officer
- Great organisational skills to manage changing demands in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in managing a portfolio of work packages or projects with competing demands and deadlines.
- A team player, able to work well on their own but also someone who can be relied upon by others to own and deliver.
- Good financial skills to manage project costs and report on profit.
- Experience of working within the Defence and Security sector is highly desirable.
Qualifications for the Project Support Officer
- Must possess, or be willing to gain, a baseline understanding of project and risk management methodologies consistent with the Association for Project Management (APM) framework, or equivalent.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Developed Vetting (EDV) security clearance for this role.
