Our Port Hope location is looking to hire a Property Remediation and Restoration Field Coordinator to work with our team on the remediation of contaminated sites and consolidate the waste in an engineered mound in the community.   • Planning, organizing, and controlling the integration of work areas and disciplines within the project effectively.
  • Inclusive of assessing the scope, determining required materials, purchasing materials and equipment, and executing carpentry work.
  • Implementing trade knowledge, methods, and best practices to complete hands-on remediation and restoration work.
  • Planning and managing projects in a way that aligns with stakeholders’ expectations and meets business needs.
  • Ensuring all designs and work plans incorporate safety, quality, health, and the environment.
  • Managing change in scope and schedule, identifying project risks and barriers, and developing of mitigation strategies.
  • Reporting and interfacing with Leads and Property Owners regarding project status updates and expectations.
  • Balancing and determining project priorities and the division of responsibilities.
  • Executing the contract and procurement strategy and managing work packages and resources.
  • Coordinating with a team of CNL staff, consultants, and contractors in the remediation of the Low-Level Radioactive Waste on the site(s).
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Delivering quality results on time and budget.
  • Ensuring all team members use applicable safety equipment and adhere to safe work policies/practices, radiation protection policies/practices, and any other CNL safety requirements as mandated by the organization.
  • Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills while client-and stakeholder facing direct communication, ethics, and integrity.
  • Collaborating with the Communications & Stakeholder Relations team, providing and receiving input, and participating in public relations events as needed.
  • Utilizing knowledge of Building codes, Occupational Health and Safety and Radioactive and/or environmental remediation and restoration while working on projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
  • Completion of Secondary Education is a must, however a degree or diploma from a college/university relevant to skilled trades would be an asset.
  • Experience
  • College diploma with 2+ years of progressive project experience related to construction and/or remediation projects; or
  • 3+ years’ experience with no formal post-secondary education, progressively responsible project experience related to construction and/or remediation projects.
  • Supervising the work of contractors, consultant engineers, and vendors in fieldwork and construction oversight.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Have a multi-faceted set of skills such as but not limited to:
  • General Framing and finish carpentry such as trim, casing, baseboard and cabinetry; Ability to build stairs; Install floorings such as tile, laminate, hardwood, and vinyl; Insulate walls and ceilings including the installation of vapor barrier; Complete drywall repairs or install and finish new drywall; Painting; Installation of windows and doors; Masonry repairs; Concrete placement and finishing; Installation of exterior siding; Earthworks including compaction, grading, plantings etc.; and Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills while client-and-stakeholder facing, with direct communication, ethics, and integrity.
  • Must demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas:
  • Mathematics, Science, and Communications related to carpentry; Hand and Tools and Safety; Estimating, Blueprint Reading and Drafting; Initiative and judgment to organize and maintain the flow of work and accuracy of records; Must be punctual, dependable and safety-minded; Detail oriented with the ability to meet deadlines; Exceptional organizational skills, able to prioritize and time management is required; Ability to understand detailed information is essential; Demonstrates responsibility and is accountable for accurately handling the details associated with one’s work; Ability to adapt to a changing environment; Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders; and Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Job/Industry Specific knowledge:
  • Project Management; Remediation/Construction Projects; Ontario Building Code; Construction Safety; and Hands-on knowledge in Trades such as carpentry, drywall, flooring, tile, paint, insulation, concrete placement, etc.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

  • The work domain can be characterized by vigorous objectives, competing interests, and legal obligations.
  • Need to be highly self-disciplined and perform well under sustained pressure.
  • Able to perform physical labour for extended hours as needed.
  • The office environment depends on the project stage where regular concentration at a computer screen is required (~15%).
  • Site work will be required depending on the stage of the project, requiring the use of tools, all applicable safety equipment and absolute adherence to safe work and radiation protection policies/practices (~85%).
  • Travel as required.
