DescriptionPsychology AssociateAirway Heights Corrections CenterAirway Heights, WASchedule: 7:30am-4:00pm (0730-1600) Monday-FridayMonthly Salary: $7,677.00-$10,330.00Yearly Salary: $92,124.00-$123,960.00The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Psychology Associate for the Airway Heights Corrections Center located in Airway Heights, WA.This position functions as a Primary Therapist at a facility within the assigned area of responsibility providing assessment, diagnostic, treatment, and crisis services for incarcerated individuals with a mental health condition. The Psychology Associate position is an integral part of the Health Services team at the Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC) and functions to provide high quality, evidence-based care for incarcerated individuals meeting criteria for treatment under the Department of Corrections, Washington Health Plan. The mental health team at AHCC functions in collaboration with other health care professionals in an integrated medical clinic to achieve the agency’s mission of creating safer communities. Mental health treatment primarily contributes to this mission by increasing self-regulation skills and supporting prosocial autonomous functioning among the incarcerated population. The mental health team is composed of seven Psychology Associates.   • Conduct intake assessments of incarcerated individuals using agency designated forms and documentation.
  • Provide follow up assessments for patients.
  • Diagnose presenting concerns in accordance with DSM-V and determine whether or not conditions met treatment criteria per the Washington State Health Plan and functional deficits.
  • Evaluate progress of treatment and recommend patients for higher levels of care when indicated.
  • Provide support and respond to needs of all DOC staff when issues of mental health of an incarcerated individual.
  • Provide transition and release planning for incarcerated individuals.
  • Regularly consult with supervising psychologist regarding clinical decisions.

Crisis Intervention:

  • Work closely in an integrated team of corrections, classification, and Health Services staff.

  • Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor (LAAC)
  • Must have the ability to apply for a Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor License within 30 days of hire date.
  • Additional consideration may be given for higher level DOH MH licenses.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least one year of expierence working independently and effectively to develop to provide individual and group therapies.
  • Expierence linking clients with resources within institutions and/or the community.
  • Expierence working in a collaborative fashion as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Official Washington State Licensure as a Mental Health Clinician.

  • Salary is based on experience and is determined at the time a final offer of employment is made. The salary range listed in the job posting includes Steps A-M. Step M is a longevity step and is typically gained six years after being assigned to Step L in your permanent salary range.
