This role will oversee procurement, cost control, stock management, and supplier relations to ensure smooth manufacturing operations. Reporting to the General Manager/Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in strategic purchasing for the business.Why Join Us?

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure all materials for production and operations, including reinforcing steel, sand, gravel, lifting attachments, consumables (oil, lubricants, PPE, etc.)
  • Develop strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality, and service levels
  • Plan and execute multiple procurement projects efficiently
  • Manage hiring of equipment, including tools and plant
  • Use internal Purchasing Systems to enter and issue orders, approve purchases, and track accounts
  • Work closely with operations staff to optimise procurement schedules and stock management
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to monitor worker hours and subcontractor invoices
  • Report on purchasing performance, including cost savings, quality improvements, and supplier agreements
  • Ensure compliance with budgets, tracking costs and reporting against targets
  • Manage inventory alongside the Storekeeper, ensuring efficient stock control
  • Implement ISO9001 Quality Control Systems, including supplier approvals
  • Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs), consignment stock, and vending systems (PPE)
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers as needed

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar procurement role (ideally in construction or manufacturing)
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains
  • Excellent negotiation skills with proven cost-saving strategies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to procurement improvements
  • Strong team player, able to work well across departments
  • Industry qualifications in procurement would be an advantage
  • Proven reliability, efficiency, and time management skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing demands
