Come and join us in our goal of building a healthy & engaged campus.Reporting to the Director, the Recreation and Wellbeing Programs Coordinator supports programs aimed at supporting physical activity and wellness for diverse student populations. Using a collaborative approach, and with an understanding of principles equity, diversity and inclusion, the incumbent will design, plan, deliver and evaluate programs and events. The Recreation and Wellbeing Programs Coordinator works to remove barriers towards participation and maximize student participation.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conceptualizing, organizing and executing program activities
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Keeping well-informed on theories related to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Keeping well-informed on innovations in sport and recreational facilities
  • Overseeing day-to-day operational needs and service delivery requirements of programs
  • Developing learning outcomes for workshops and/or services
  • Conducting post-event evaluation, analysis and recommendations for changes
  • Promoting departmental events and programs to students

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology, Sport Management, Recreation & Leisure, Health & Wellbeing or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum two years of experience creating, delivering and evaluating recreation and wellbeing programs in a recreational field (collegiate, municipal, private, etc.)
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Experience hiring, training and supervisor casual student staff
  • Experience evaluating program success, recommending and implementing improvements
  • Strong understanding of the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion as it relates to physical activity and recreation environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Certification or formal education or training in one or more areas relating to physical activity, movement, well-being, fitness is an asset
