The appointee will help lead a new research project funded by National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) focussed on annual health checks in children and young people with a learning disability. This ambitious research project aims to a) understand why uptake of annual health checks is low for children and young people aged 14-17 years with a learning disability, b) co-design an intervention to increase uptake, and c) explore the feasibility of the new intervention.The research fellow will take a lead role in project initiation, participant recruitment, qualitative data collection, qualitative data management and analysis, co-ordinating and conducting the co-design process, report writing, preparation of manuscripts and materials for publication and dissemination. The post holder will liaise with all clinical and academic teams participating in the study.This role will require a Standard DBS check.About YouThe post holder will have a PhD or equivalent Psychology or a closely-related discipline together with an understanding of the needs of children with intellectual disability, their carers and related professionals. The post holder will have practical experience of conducting qualitative research with children with intellectual disability as well as experience in adopting PPI or co-design methods.
