The Pillay laboratory has a strong record in the field of sarcoma genomics and have used machine learning methods to unravel patterns of genomic complexity in cancer, termed copy number signatures. This post is funded by Cancer Research UK and is for 2 years in the first instance and could be extended to 4 years at the discretion of the hiring manager, Dr Nischalan Pillay.About the roleThe work will involve data discovery, data analysis and computational modelling in close partnership with our clinical and computational collaborators at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, UCL and other national and international institutions. The post-holder will refine existing computational methods developed in the laboratory and apply these genomic biomarkers to assess prognosis and treatment outcome in well annotated cancer cohorts, working as part of a well established collaboration focused on unravelling cancer genome complexity. There is also an opportunity to develop new computation methods using long read sequencing data with a particular focus on epigenetics. For more details about the Pillay lab, please visit .Informal enquiries regarding the vacancy can be made by email to Dr Nischalan Pillay atAbout youCandidates should hold or about to be awarded a PhD in either computational biology, bioinformatics, statistical genetics or computer science with substantial experience in computational modelling work and bioinformatics and must have a proven track record of research achievements.
