We are looking for recognized experts in NLP or reinforcement learning; with experience in areas like LLM alignment; multilingual modeling; code generation; responsible AI; and model controllability. The ideal candidate will have an interest in producing and applying new science to help us develop and responsibly release large language models.Research Scientist, Language – Generative AI Responsibilities
- Lead, collaborate, and execute on research that pushes forward the state of the art in large language model research.
- Directly contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results.
- Work with a large and globally distributed team.
- Contribute to publications and open-sourcing efforts.
- Help identify long-term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones.
- Prioritize research that can be applied to Meta’s product development.
- Mentor other team members. Play a significant role in healthy cross-functional collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A PhD in AI, computer science, or related technical fields.
- Experience holding an industry, faculty, or government researcher position.
- Publications in machine learning.
- Experience writing software and executing complex experiments involving large AI models and datasets.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience in generative AI and LLM research.
- 2+ year(s) of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research.
- First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL).
- Experience developing and debugging in Python.
