Reporting into the Deputy Chief Risk Officer, the role operates within the second-line Risk function, adding commercial and customer-value through the provision of pragmatic and proportionate risk advice, support and challenge to the Simplyhealth group.You’ll also lead the execution of Simplyhealth’s control testing programme, testing controls on a cyclical basis and supporting the further maturing of the Internal Control Framework within the first line. Additionally, you’ll execute the day-to-day second-line management of incidents/risk events, working alongside and providing guidance to a network of incident co-ordinators.
Furthermore, the role will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to support and oversee the execution of relevant regulatory matters as required, including Outsourcing & Third Party Risk Management, Operational Resilience and the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment.Key responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and oversight relating to the identification, evaluation and management of risk to assigned business areas (and other areas as required)
  • Manage the day to day operation of the incident/risk event process, liaising with and providing regular training to a network of incident co-ordinators
  • Oversee and conduct testing of critical controls (and where appropriate local controls)
  • Take a lead or supporting role in specific risk reviews, where required, in accordance with the Assurance Plan
  • Provide second-line oversight of certain regulatory topics, including (but not limited to) Outsourcing & Third Party Risk Management and Operational Resilience
  • Draft risk management, incident and internal control-related reports for various audiences, as required
  • Support the Deputy Chief Risk Officer in the delivery of the Own Risk & Solvency Assessment
  • Support ongoing administration and development of GRC tooling (Riskonnect)
  • Collate data on a regular basis to support risk appetite reporting
  • Support in the development and maintenance of the risk management methodology and associated documentation

About YouYou’ll need to have:

  • Experience working within a Risk function in a financial services firm, supporting risk identification, evaluation and agreement of actions, where required
  • Experience testing critical controls in a second or third-line capacity within a financial services firm
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements relating to Outsourcing and Third Party Risk Management
  • Experience influencing a variety of stakeholders at various levels

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience producing high quality reports for committees
