DESCRIPTIONThe Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Operational Excellence (OpEx) team is committed to the continual improvement of our people, processes, and performance to position Amazon as an industry leader in safety excellence. Drawing from field expertise, OpEx partners with cross-functional teams to resolve global challenges and proactively support our 8,000+ WHS professionals. We partner with process owners to understand causal effects leading to defects, leverage process improvement methodologies to drive efficiency, and implement change to optimize safety performance and create a culture of safety excellence.Amazon is seeking a Program Manager to join the Operations Excellence (OpEx) division of the Workplace Health and Safety team. In this role, you will collaborate with leaders in WHS/EHS, Operations, Engineering, Risk and other cross-functional teams to understand challenges, develop solutions, and drive process improvement within safety programs and initiatives impacting all global business units. The OpEx Program Manager will develop a strategy for using internal resources to provide the most beneficial outcomes in reducing operational risk, streamlining EHS business processes, and driving scalable implementation. The OpEx Program Manager will identify best practices, facilitate sharing across business units, and support the integration into organizational standards. This role will also actively benchmark internal programs against external initiatives, measure program effectiveness, and identify best-in-class solutions to help solve current and future business challenges. As such, this role requires a candidate who enjoys developing processes, leveraging technology to implement best practice solutions, and scaling new ideas to the business while also delivering results.Key job responsibilities
A day in the life
PLEASE NOTE: This role requires frequent collaboration with teams located in multiple geographies and time zones. All Program Managers are required to be on-site 5 days a week at an Amazon corporate office or location.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS– 5+ years of program or project management experience
– 5+ years of owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
– Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization
– Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
– Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
– Experience defining program requirements, developing procedures, implementing goal objectives, and using causal data to determine process improvement
– Experience creating/implementing best practice sharing and point of improvement mechanisms across multiple regions and business units
– Familiarity using AWS service tools and technologies (ie. Amazon Q Business, Quicksight, LLMs, etc.)
– Understanding of regional/federal regulations and Amazon safety policies to ensure compliance
– Demonstrated effective business writing through clear, concise narratives to document project updates, convey deep dive findings, and provide periodic program updates to leadership
– Experience with ASANA, Excel, Microsoft Office and other Project Management tools
– Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or universityPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS– Experience of building solutions using AWS service tools and technologies (ie. Amazon Q Business, Quicksight, LLMs, etc.)
– Experience leveraging technology to implement lean principles and drive process improvement

The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
