The Opportunity:Avantor is looking for a driven and quality-focused Scientific Preparation Manager to join the team in Macclesfield. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the operational management of a new facility and strategic leadership of the Scientific Preparation team, ensuring products and services delivered meet end-user requirements and our contractual KPIs. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring health and safety, and quality compliance.This is a full-time, temporary maternity cover position, based at our customer’s site in Macclesfield (SK10 2NA). In addition to an attractive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including a pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.The TeamYou’ll lead a team of 5 associates, comprising of a Senior Lab Technician, Research Technicians, and a Technical Support Specialist. The team plays a crucial role in supporting on-site science by preparing a wide variety of media, buffers and solutions, utilising electronic notebooks and digital technologies.You’ll be part of a supportive and experienced leadership team within a diverse, open-minded environment that values positive challenges and collaboration. You’ll belong to the Lab and Production Services department, supporting major pharmaceutical companies globally within the Research and Development sector of the Life Sciences industry.What we’re looking for

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline and/or proof of multiple years of work experience in a GxP laboratory environment
• Experience:
• Demonstrated leadership
• Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety within the laboratory (IOSH, NEBOSH desirable)
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present material at all levels, both verbally and in writing
• Strong formal writing skills to author GMP documentation
• Knowledge of external audit requirements, change control, deviations and CAPAs

• Ensure the GMP status of the facility is maintained
• Capture of robust performance measures (KPIs) for reporting to the Customer
• Strategic planning and effective deployment of teams’ resources to secure task fulfilment and enable job enrichment resulting in steady growth of team expertise and skills
• Ensure audit readiness and support internal/ external inspections
• Drive business development and growth of the service
