Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. PRESTO serves more than 5 million customers across 11 transit agencies and processes over $2.5 billion in fares through 67 million boardings per month (pre-pandemic). Today, PRESTO offers one of the most globally advanced fare payment systems in the world having delivered new ways to pay for customers, including real time PRESTO Contactless with credit and Interac debit and PRESTO in Mobile Wallet across its transit agency clients, including the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Enhancing the customer experience through continuous improvement while working with our transit agency clients to support their needs, and maintaining a system that performs exceptionally, continue to drive PRESTO toward making transit better for all.The Senior Advisor provides support to the Chief Payments Office in the areas of internal and executive communications, employee engagement, Senior Management Team, stakeholder management, and enterprise strategy alignment activities. They will provide research and analysis in support of the evaluation and development of communications, processes and procedures, and coordinates and/or leads the development and implementation of CEO, SMT and Board reporting and initiatives.What will I be doing?

  • Manages and leads the strategic delivery of internal communications programs and, where appropriate, external communications programs that accurately reflect the objectives, activities, and requirements of the Payments (PRESTO) division by:
  • Leading the development of appropriate communications strategies to advance the Chief Payments Officers’ (CPO) goals within the Payments division, working in coordination with the CPO and Payments (PRESTO) Leadership Team, that consider divisional objectives and operations, forecasts needs, and ensures the successful achievement of outcomes including:
  • delivering useful, timely, and effective information across the division,
  • business strategy implementation, and
  • sustainment of a positive high-performing culture.
  • Overseeing development of communications plans to implement overall strategies and respond to business requirements, directing team members as appropriate and drafting and reviewing content as needed
  • Leading the development of executive communications strategies, plans, and activities for staff (e.g., newsletters, town halls, all hands calls, all-staff memos, special events, etc.) to maximize transparency and promote awareness of organizational priorities
  • Leading the development and maintenance of the Payments (PRESTO) divisional intranet content
  • Leading the Payments Engaged People Committee and supports the development and execution of the annual engagement action plan
  • Producing executive reports and presentations for Metrolinx governance bodies, including the Board of Directors to ensure members are well informed of Payments (PRESTO) progress on priority initiatives
  • Develops and implements communication strategies and materials that support key initiatives and convey program changes to all stakeholders, including presentation materials that support divisional engagement strategy by:
  • Leading the development and delivery of Payments (PRESTO) correspondence on key issues
  • Developing briefing materials and presentation materials
  • Coordinating the development and approvals of Payments (PRESTO) specific enterprise-wide communications
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders and the CEO’s Office for consistent messaging and tone of voice
  • Manages requests and interactions for speaking engagements and other public appearances and interactions
  • Develops speaking notes with Corporate Communications
  • On behalf of the Chief Payments Officer, manages multidisciplinary CEO, SMT and/or Board initiatives / projects in partnership with corporate stakeholders

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related discipline. Post-graduate (Master’s Degree) is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience providing advice to senior executives, leading teams, managing and reviewing written materials and managing projects from inception to implementation
  • Expert communications skills and competencies
  • Organizational skills to support multiple priorities and navigate through ambiguity
  • Self-directed problem-solver taking initiative and proactively addressing issues working with minimal oversight
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic, cross-functional team atmosphere
  • Interpersonal, facilitation, and diplomacy skills to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders with diverse, and often opposing, interests
  • Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to draft correspondence, develop and make presentations, prepare reports and briefings, etc.
  • Ability to develop detailed reports and work plans to support the achievement of objectives
  • Proficiency in the use of project management software, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project Office, etc.) and other computer applications
