If you share our values of respect, innovation, and collaboration, join us.PositionAbout the role of Senior Associate in charge of Politics and PolicyOur France programme team aims at a broad spectrum of partners and measures, across party lines and beyond natural allies to foster the broad-based societal support and economic changes needed for the transformation. Strengthening capacity in civil society goes hand in hand with development of new ideas and formats to adapt to political circumstances.The team in charge of Politics and Policy, led by a Programme Manager under the responsibility of the France programme Director, is managing the work related to sectoral policies, including transport, energy, buildings, industry, agriculture and land use as well as finance.The candidate will deal with strategy and the regranting related to some of those portfolios, with the support of the European programmes specifically focusing on those sectors. In France, they will work in close collaboration with the team in charge of politics and citizen’s engagement, focusing on movements’ building, news and media work as well as digital communication and cultural change.Key responsibilitiesA key role in providing strategic advice, dealing with grant management, and monitoring and evaluating the progress of different work streams. There will be direct engagement with other ECF programmes, partners and funders in designing and aligning strategies.The Senior Associate will be responsible for:▪Strategy development & implementation: supporting the Programme manager in setting the programme’s strategy, priorities and budget,; co-developing and implementing strategies with our network of grantees and partners; monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress and impact of initiatives and grants.▪Grant-making: developing the scope of work for different ECF projects; managing the process of ECF grant-making cycle, including soliciting and validating proposals from potential French partners and drafting recommendations for the consideration of the ECF board and our donors, and reporting and evaluating results.▪Project management: supporting the Programme manager to monitor ECF’s French budget and the delivery of key workstream deliverables through frequent communication with partners, colleagues and funders, ensuring accountability.▪Research activities and analysis: supporting the Programme manager in scoping the landscape around local and national climate politics and advocacy, as well as identifying potential new projects & grantees.▪Internal coordination and communication: liaising with ECF’s other programmes active in France, as well as other ECF country programmes and the organisation’s operations and communications teams to ensure proper and timely dissemination of information, and consistency and complementarity of different projects and work streams.▪Networking: building partnerships with key individuals across the policymaking, business and civil society communities in France and Europe; convening meetings; representing ECF France programme at meetings and organising follow-up.The team is consisted of 3 people, including a Programme Manager and another Senior Associate.RequirementsExperience and competenciesWe are looking for a candidate who has at least 5 years of experience of delivering impact in influencing an area of policy, with a preference for those who have successfully made a strong positive impact on climate change policy.The following attributes are sought by applicants:▪5-8 years’ experience in either a public authority, a civil society organisation, or a company working in the climate, energy or social field, with advocacy/public affairs projects and coordination with PR/ communication teams;▪Strong strategic and political thinking, ability to think ahead and beyond classic boundaries;▪Ability to grasp strategic issues and challenges relating to a variety of sectoral problems, with the support of technical experts;▪Knowledge on transport, energy or buildings is a strong asset;▪Excellent knowledge of the French and European policy-making processes and understanding of climate/energy or economic/social policies;▪Structured, driven and able to manage many processes simultaneously;▪Strong networking and influencing skills that enable effective collaboration with a diverse group of partners;▪Strategic and agile personality, with the ability to follow through with smart and adaptive implementation plan;▪Enthusiastic personality, with a positive, collaborative and can-do attitude;▪Excellent command of French and English (both spoken and written).Other informationWhat we offer▪The unique opportunity to work as part of a highly dynamic, international group of individuals who combine their passion to make a difference with a rigorous and results-oriented approach to work;▪A flexible work environment and a space to develop and challenge yourself;▪A permanent full-time position.LocationParis, FranceValid working permit is necessary in case it is needed.Start dateASAPHow to applyPlease upload your
