Job Description:Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Reporting to the Manager, Performance & Reporting, you will be responsible for providing informed analytical support to the Commercial Management Team (Operations); understanding business office functions and processes to propose improvements to business leaders to automate business functions and make best use of technology to improve effectiveness, customer-service experience, and operational excellence.What will I be doing?

  • Conducts analyses in support of the business operations of the commercial management team, provides subject matter expertise in analyzing and responding to inquiries, and solving complex problems.
  • Creates and applies reporting templates, business models and automated processes to meet legal and corporate standards, including meeting deadlines.
  • Performs data mining, establishes complete process maps and creates master databases, including advanced statistical/relational analysis of large data sets to identify and correct inconsistencies and anomalies in Oracle E-Business Suite, Power BI and other IT solutions.
  • Provides insights and recommendations to the Commercial Management team and business unit leaders to drive master data-related decisions.
  • Supports the development of commercial evidence, tools, techniques, and guidance that will demonstrate value for money for Metrolinx projects.
  • Provides internal stakeholders, leaders and commercial team members, with agreed upon reports, and recommendations with accuracy and before deadline, e.g. Key Performance Indicators, etc.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to business leaders, partners, and committee members, assists in interpretation of data for commercial decision-making and provides commentary.
  • Works closely with internal and external auditors and other consultants, to maintain data integrity of the business and increase understanding of governance, controls, and standards.
  • Develops commentary and presentations on data analysis and reports for senior management and presents them to aid commercial decision-making.
  • Exercises due diligence in data management and reporting, to reduce commercial, financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Provides recommendations to protect Metrolinx’s data integrity; shows stewardship of resources with innovative options and attention to value for money and cost savings.
  • Investigate business office functions and processes and propose improvements to business leaders to automate business functions and make best use of technology to improve effectiveness and customer-service experience.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to gather qualitative and quantitative data needed for solid decision-making and proactively identify opportunities for new technology/automation or streamlining of business processes and workflows.
  • Develop strong presentations and PowerPoint material by gathering and synthesizing data and transforming it into illustrative frameworks and powerful presentations outlining problems/issues, analysis performed, and recommendations actions required.
  • Influence management decisions by recommending best solutions for business needs and identifying areas of waste or duplication.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Analyst, preferably in the transport or construction industry and / or the public sector.
  • Knowledge of business practices, data analysis and reporting; understands the impact of business processes to evaluate current and future business activities.
  • Ability to perform advanced level analysis, interpret and evaluate data, and recommend solutions to problems.
  • Methodical, hands-on, resourceful, and detail-oriented approach to problem solving and analytical research.
  • Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills to develop and present commentary, reports, and presentations on analysis to senior management, to aid decision-making.
  • MS Office (including SharePoint) and Oracle Database experience (CM14, Oracle E-Business Suite, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experience with using and generating reports from Business Intelligence (BI) systems, e.g.Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, is considered an asset;
  • Experience with using process automation and data collection tools e.g.Power Automate, Power Apps is considered an asset; and
