The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer solves complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. The Senior BI Engineer will utilize tools, technologies, applications and practices to collect, integrate, analyze, and present raw data to complete objectives and use cases.

The Senior BI Engineer will assimilate large volumes of complex medical, pharmacy, provider, and lab data into pipelines that enrich data for use cases that improve population health and company financial position.

Key Accountabilities –

  • Participate in problem framing, requirement gathering, data ETL, analysis, reporting, and insight development activities

  • Organize and analyze medical, pharmacy, and health administration data for reporting and insight discovery

  • Provide data and consultation to personnel for the purpose of improving our financial position and the health and well-being of our members

  • Develop new data products and continually identify ways to improve current solutions by improving processes, value, and usability

  • Deliver proactive thought and information to improve the business domain supported

  • Identify and seek to resolve data anomalies and irregularities

  • Ensure full and clear documentation of processes and present them to stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Our Department of Defense Contract requires U.S. citizenship for this position

  • Successfully receive interim approval for government security clearance (NBIS – National Background Investigation Services)

  • HGB is not authorized to do work in Puerto Rico per our government contract.  We are not able to hire candidates that are currently living in Puerto Rico.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Demonstrated experience with relational databases

  • Experience with large and complex extraction, transformation, and loading of data

  • Proficiency utilizing SQL, SSIS, and Python for data ETL work

  • Experience automating data pipelines and processes

  • Proficiency testing, documenting, and sharing code

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and translate requirements between business, project management and technical teams

  • Experience creating analytics solutions with healthcare claims data

  • Experience using code repositories and IT service management tools, such as, Azure DevOps and ServiceNow

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using ActiveBatch and Flask for data pipeline task automation

  • Experience maintaining analytics infrastructure

Work at Home Requirements

To ensure Hybrid Office/Home associates’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Hybrid Office/Home associates must meet the following criteria:

  • At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested

  • Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership

  • Associates who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

  • Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.

  • Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

 

$89,000 – $121,400 per year

 

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
