About The RoleA number of exciting opportunities have arisen for Senior Category Buyers to join our team on a Full Time, Permanent basis!At National Gird, a Senior Category Buyer is responsible for strategic procurement operations within the aligned business area. The role will partner the Category Manager in delivery of Category strategies, working with the NG business units to share supply chain insight and recommendations, award Contracts from leading strategic sourcing events, leading commercial negotiations, drafting contract through to engaging and managing suppliers.Senior Category Buyer roles are accountable for high value, business critical goods and services, engaging at senior levels of the organisation to ensure delivery of business priorities.Direct Category ManagementWorking to procure equipment and services such as transformers, steel structures, switchgear, cable, civils, vegetation management (and many others) in support of National Grid Business Units.We have roles available in both direct category buying teams and our programme procurement team, supporting major National Grid construction projects. While category buyers will be responsible for specific category buying, those in programme procurement teams will work across a range of categories to develop and implement procurement strategies.
We will be undertaking pooled recruitment for these roles, with formal interviews undertaken with a panel made up of two hiring managers from the roles available. If a candidate is successful at formal interview a shorter, informal, conversation will be required to confirm which role would be most suitable for the candidate. What You’ll GetA competitive salary between £46,415 – £58,760 – dependent on capabilityAs well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
