The main purpose of the role is to interpret requirements and assist in the design and implementation of Risk Control mechanisms across Protect (Economic Crime), ensuring they are adequate to mitigate the key business risks identified. You will have key accountability for partnering specific teams within Protect, providing challenge, objective advice, and actionable insight so that Protect continuously improves.At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible.   • Providing risk expertise, objective advice and actionable insight to one or more teams within Protect.
  • Manage risk and control self-assessments across operational and conduct risk.
  • Support business teams to design, operate and evidence a robust, effective and efficient control environment.
  • Support business teams in delivering and demonstrating compliance with applicable policies.
  • Maintain the risk and control profile at an operational and technical level, including on central risk management systems.
  • Work with relevant teams to manage MI development, ensuring risk and control indicators are accurate, consistent, and provide senior management with sufficient information to understand performance.
  • Provide reporting and insights through Nationwide’s risk governance, transformational activities, and on an ad hoc basis to enable effective, informed decision making.
  • Where incidents arise, monitoring the action taken to make sure that these are resolved, with appropriate ownership, timelines, and documentation.
  • Expanding our stakeholder network and maintaining strong relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Deputising as appropriate for the Senior Manager Governance and Control, which will include participating in Senior Risk and Operational Committees as well as leading meetings and contributing to projects.

About you

  • Experience coordinating risk and control self-assessments.
  • Experience interpreting risk policies and assessing policy compliance statuses.
  • Experience of documenting, implementing and managing control frameworks within a significant operation in a risk or compliance role.
  • Experience writing risk and control reports for senior management.
  • Experience of incident management and root cause analysis.
  • Ideally, knowledge of financial services legal/regulatory frameworks, and relevant regulation (and codes) relating to economic crime prevention.
  • Ability to act objectively and maintain independence.
  • Organisation and planning/time management skills are crucial to meet deadlines and SLAs.
