JOB OVERVIEW:
The Senior Cyber Security Architect role is primarily responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure data, systems and applications.
This position plays a significant role in creating strategies to protect Henry Schein systems and infrastructure while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
A successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of complex IT systems and stay updated with the latest security standards, systems and authentication protocols.
The ideal candidate serves as the liaison between the technology global organization, the business, and the security engineers and coordinates with system owners, service providers, and the rest of the information security organization on the design and implementation of the security requirements and controls.
The role will also oversee internal and external resources, and report to the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
The main duties and responsibilities include:
- Design a robust security system to protect the company’s computer systems and networks from threats
- Designing robust security architectures for IT projects, including M&A activities
- Developing and maintaining security standards, and guidelines
- Conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments
- Identifying integration issues and develop solutions to these issues
- Ensuring the architecture and security systems align with the business’s goals and requirements
- Researching, designing and advocating new technologies, architectures, and security products
- Ensuring compliance with the changing laws and applicable regulations
- Participating in Incident Response and Forensic investigations
- Working with IT department and members of the information security team to design, implement, manage, and report on, the effectiveness of security controls
- Staying up to date with the latest security systems, standards, authentication protocols, and products
- Plan and implement security measures to protect sensitive data and systems from infiltration and cyber-attacks
- Provide technical leadership for the information security team
- Design and implement user identity access management systems
- Evaluate new cybersecurity threats and IT trends and develop effective security measures
- Work very closely with infrastructure and application teams to secure Henry Schein systems and data
Key roles for the position:
- Technical oversight: responsible for providing security personnel with technical guidance and supervision.
- Create proper documentation: plan, investigate, and build reliable, powerful, and flexible security architectures.
- Own security architecture and controls’ framework: Planning, studying and then designing a resilient security architecture, and developing prerequisites for networks, firewalls, routers, and other network devices
- Awareness: work closely with the rest of the information security team to identify improvements and remedies based on vulnerability assessments, security testing, risk analysis, as well as internal and external audit findings
- Research: researching and implementing the updated security standards, systems, and best practices
Requirements:
- 15-25 years of security experience
- 10-15 years of experience as a Security Architect or similar role
- Experience in cloud platforms, risk assessment tools, identity management and data encryption
- Knowledge of network security architecture concepts, including topology, protocols, components, and principles
- Understanding of advanced threat detection and network protocols
- Proficiency in security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, anti-virus software, authentication systems, log management, and content filtering
- Knowledge of disaster recovery, computer forensic tools, technologies, and methods
- Knowledge of industry-standard and organizationally accepted analysis principles and methods.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
- A bachelor degree in computer science, Information Technology or relevant field
- Professional certification, such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) are a plus
SCOPE:
Typically lead a complex department with multiple disciplines of significant scope and financial and operational impact. Role is highly strategic, including creation and ownership of processes and managing by influence. Accountable for preparing more broad strategic plans, performance, results, budget and staffing. Determine the objectives, policies and plans of the sub-function(s). Expected to operate autonomously within area of responsibility and fully accountable for meeting strategic financial and operating objectives of the sub-function(s). Role has complexities and a strategic focus (unique business, combined roles, complex negotiations) that can distinguish it from other Director level roles and which supersede business size. May have exposure to Board of Directors.
COMPLEXITY:
Consistently work with abstract ideas or situations across the business with in-depth knowledge of the company and business strategy. Through assessment of intangible variables, and the use of significant conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation skills, identify and evaluate fundamental issues and provide strategy and direction. Broad knowledge of all areas within sub-function(s) derived from experience in non-management and middle-management roles allowing for innovative concepts and promoting new ideas within the Company. Lead development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
STRATEGY:
Develop strategic direction and a regular cadence to report on an annual plan to ensure alignment with overall Company strategy and initiatives. Develop corporate and/or organizational policies and authorize implementation. Recognized as an influential leader.
SUPERVISION:
Direct and control activities through management teams or senior professional level staff who have overall responsibility for the operation of the assigned area and/or highly complex process or system.
INTERACTION:
Regularly interact with executives, consultants and/or major customers, requiring negotiation of extremely critical matters. Influence policymaking. Reach outside of own network to build rapport with key internal and external decision makers.
MANAGEMENT DUTIES:
Can hire, terminate, or promote and is aware of higher-level organizational and external issues and concerns. Makes decisions on salary increases, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Typically, to advance to a new job level, TSMs must demonstrate professional behavior and should consistently be at the high-end of meets expectations or consistently exceed expectations.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 15 or more years of increasing responsibility and complexity in terms of any applicable professional experience; 7 or more years of management experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master’s degree or global equivalent a plus.
TRAVEL / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Travel typically less than 10%. Office environment. No special physical demands required.
The posted range for this position is $182,139 to $260,686 which is the expected starting base salary range for an employee who is new to the role to fully proficient in the role. Many factors go into determining employee pay within the posted range including prior experience, current skills, location/labor market, internal equity, etc.
This position is eligible for a bonus not reflected in the posted range.
